According to the Census Bureau, Pinal County, Arizona is among the fastest growing in the nation. Pinal County is south and east of downtown Phoenix, and includes such cities as: Apache Junction, Gold Canyon, Queen Creek, Florence.
Population estimates released Thursday by the U.S. Census Bureau show Pinal County grew by nearly 67 percent between the years 2000 and 2007.
The fastest-growing county was Kendall county in Illinois with a population growth of 77.5 percent.
Maricopa county saw strong growth too, as the population rose by 26 percent. Maricopa County includes Phoenix, Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, Scottsdale, Buckeye and more. It's a large county.
Pinal County - Population in April 2000 - 179,715
Pinal County - Population in July 2007 - 299,246, an increase of 66.5% and ranks 4th in the country
Maricopa County - Population in April 2000 - 3,072,161
Maricopa County - Population in July 2007 - 3,880,181 an increase of 26%.3 and ranks 118 in the country.
While I realize many are moving here from everywhere, it's amazing to see on paper. In the past month, I've worked with someone from Northern California, from Canada, from Connecticut and from Michigan. It seems that the property taxes (which are about 1% here - compared to much more in the east) is one of the draws to our state as well as our climate and lower prices for housing. We welcome everyone from those colder climates to come to our beautiful and warm and sunny state, Arizona! ;-)

Teri- WOW, that is a lot of growth in a very short time, sounds like a lot of our areas too!
Katerina, it is a lot of growth. Between July 2006 and July 2007, Maricopa was the fastest growing county in the country. Lots and lots and lots of people are moving here. We have the heat, but no mosquitos, very little humidity, and lower taxes. Good reasons to come to Arizona. Why don't you come on over? ;-)
Teri, out of town buyers are seeing tremendous value in our market while the residents are still steeped in the pessimistic view of their troubled neighbors. I've even found the out of town buyers to be much less concerned with values even though they are buying here for value. Sometimes people are just too close to the tree to see the forest.

I read that according to the Census Bureau that Phoenix will be the third largest city in the US within 10 years or so. I am glad I am in Tucson. LOL

Wow! In another lifetime I used to teach Science, and I started teaching in Coolidge. It was a very small town at the time. I'm told it has REALLY changed. Makes it good for Real Estate.
Leslie, I totally relate. When I grew up here, my mom would drop off my sisters and me, and we could catch a movie, cartoons, popcorn, etc. for about 25 cents. Things have definitely changed. I can remember when..........a lot of things. ;-)
