Artsy Arizona

In the Phoenix area, you cannot go far without finding art of some kind. It might be paintings that celebrate the history of the American West, or Native American art, pottery, and jewelry. Many talented artists live in the area, inspired by the colors and quality of light that are unique here. Galleries and world-class museums showcase the creativity of Arizonans to the delight of visitors and residents alike.

According to a recent article in azcentral, in Scottsdale could be art central. In this small area you will find more art galleries per capita than just about anywhere else in the U.S. Famous museums are here, and each year there are a couple dozen art and music festivals. Now through late March, the annual Scottsdale Celebration of Fine Art is open with more than 100 artists showcased in one place. The Heard Museum has a famous collection of Native American art, and the museum shop offers many treasures. Not far out in the desert, visitors can learn about Frank Lloyd Wright's architecture and life at Taliesen West, a National Historic Landmark.

There is one well-known Arizona artist who has a special connection for me. This artist's work has been in exhibitions at institutions such as the Whitney Museum of Western Art, the Smithsonian Institution, and the California State University, Fullerton, California. Take a few minutes to visit and enjoy the whimsical, colorful works by my wife's aunt, Anne Coe.

How does all this art relate to selling real estate? Everything about a city adds to the desirability of the area. A lively visual and performing art scene helps make the Phoenix metropolitan area a great place to live, play, and raise a family.
