Here in the phoenix area we have been having a spate of thefts on ac units, some are taken completely and some are just vandalized.
Why is there not more oversight on the scrap yards that accept the copper and other items, the value of the copper is only a few hundred dollars but the seller has to spend over $6000 to replace it as with the new regulations changing the 12 seer to 13 seer which means that you cant just change the outside unit but the inside unit as well.
