Can you stand some Good News!!

Too many recent posts on internet real estate blogs, news headlines and media outlets have been negative, very little rays of sunshine in what are admittedly cloudy days,

too much talk of of bank failures, illiquidity of Fannie Mae and Feddie Mac, rising fixed mortgage rates, and todays record decline in home prices across the country.

I want to talk about happy things so here are some things to consider.

• Stock Market experts say we hit a critical rebound from over emotianal selling. The (DJIA) stock market was up 266 points
• Gas prices are down more than $20/barrel to nearly $120/barrel. I have paid under $4.00/gallon and will likely go to $3.80 or so. Hard to believe that is good news. But, hey, we are moving in the right direction.
• FED is unlikely to raise rates (which they were expected to do based on the economy after last meeting) and will see how the new housing rescue bill will take effect.
• Housing Rescue approved by Congress. Granted, the bill is not a silver bullet. However, it is difficult to argue that it is a positive move. At least adding liquidity to Americas largest mortgage lenders will be largely beneficial.
• Home buyers have increased buying power as home prices are dropping and affordability is coming back into picture.
• Its is only 100 degrees. Not 110 which is more normal for Phoenix, Scottsdale.
• AZ Diamondbacks are in first place.
• and my dog, Riley (above) always makes me smile

We have plenty to be happy about. Just have to think about that instead for a minutes and not the news.
