Doing the right stuff, straight from the textbook! Tempe Agent Nick Bastian saves the day!

We've probably all heard the same thing: Read the newspaper and reach out to those that deserve recognition, it will go a long way.

Send a note to those you see written up in the papers - For example, you see that Joe Executive at XYZ Corporation received a new promotion to Vice President of Marketing. You read it in the "Local News" section of your area paper. You send him a note, congratulating him on his accomplishment.

Two ways you benefit - Sure you're doing it for the opportunity to form a relationship that may lead to business down the road but some of us do it because we ourselves love recognition, praise and/or acknowledgement for our hard work.

I didn't get a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, my 6 year old did. The Arizona Republic ran a story on Friday, Tae kwon do kids don black belts at 6, 7. They were supposed to tell us when they were running it. They forgot.

Nick Bastian didn't!

Fellow Active Rain member, Nick Bastian, a local Tempe, AZ agent sent me an email at 7:29am to congratulate my son Jacob on his accomplishment. Without this agent reading up on local news, without him sending out a congratulatory email, I would never have known the article was printed.

We all want to be proud of our children - Now I know! I also have a special place in my heart for Nick and look forward to doing what I can, whenever I can, to help him with his business.

His note will go a long way - It doesn't matter that we work for separate companies, we are part of the same community here on Active Rain and another community here in Tempe.
