Karen George, Rest In Peace

Karen George, the Arizona Mortgage LadyA day is coming when God himself will wipe our tears away.

We will turn the rifles into spades and the tanks into tractors.

Lions and lambs will play together in the fields.

And there will be no more cancer.

Thank you for doing my dad's home loan on his Arizona condo.

Say hello to Jesus for me.

Posted Sunday Aug 24

May Karen now rest in peace -- she brought her fight to us so we could see how much still needs to be done to concur this disease.  We were graced having had the chance to meet her and share in her battle.  She is a treasure and is missed.

I had been receiving email updates on her battle, and was so sad to read that she lost that very courageous battle she'd been fighting for some time now.

She gave so much to so many, both here on AR and in her day-to-day life.  My thoughts and prayers are with her husband Michael and family and friends.

She is at peace now and is in a better place with no more pain.
Ann

WOW, thank you for letting us know...what a shame, she fought so hard...even only knowing her a few months...So sad...she is truely in a better place.  My thought's and prayer's are with her family...

(((huggsss))) to them all...Karen M.

ActiveRain will be missing a big piece without Karen, but she would want us to Rock on! Can you hear her?

Joey~  I am am so sad to hear this.  Karen was a wonderful person and very good at what she did.  I was so hoping that she would be one of the one's to make it....  I wish her family peace and pray that God eases their pain.

Karen will forever live on through the indelible marks she left here in the Rain.  She will be missed but never forgotten.  Thank you, Karen, for sharing yourself with us.

Pray for her family during this time.

Karen was one of those that I subscribed to on AR and who always lent her time and knowledge even when she was suffering through her long bout with cancer.  May God welcome her with open arms and take away her pain.

I didn't know Karen.  Condolences to you, Joey, and to her family.  Just from the attitude in the picture, I know I would have liked her.

I missed out BIG TIME, didn't I?

I am lost for words....  a tragic loss indeed....  may Karen rest in peace and my thoughts and prayers go out to her family. She was certainly a strong fighter, all the way to the end.

OH NO, I am in shock..May she rest in peace. I shall miss her dearly. Her spirit will always be here with us in the Rain.

Karen, I love you. Rest in ease with no pain. I'll never forget your strength and your courage.

Joey,  Thank you for sharing the news.  Karen was one of the first blogs I subscribed to here in the Rain.  I always enjoy reading her posts and recommend her to everyone.  I will miss her words.

A sad day on earth but rejoicing in heaven. My love and prayers go out to Michael.

Joey,  I didn't know Karen, she looks so young.  She is dancing on streets of Gold and that is the image you've got to keep in mind!!!  Please offer my condolences to her family but remember she is rejoicing forevermore!

Karen's blog was the one I studied from my first day on AR. What a terrible loss. My prayers are with her husband, parents and everyone who loved her.

JOEY - My heart sank when I saw your post, and a chill went down my spine.  I knew, from Calie's post, that things had taken a turn for the worst.  This is a sad day in the rain.  My thoughts and prayers go out to her family.

I am featuring this in,"Christianity and Real Estate".....

Karen was cared about by a LOT of us in here.... most notably Elizabeth, one of our Moderators.....

I pray the Lord will surround the family with his peace.....

This is so sad! My prayers are with her family!

Joey - I'm very upset to hear of Karen's passing. She was so much a part of the active rain community, she will be greatly missed by all. My thoughts and prayers to her husband and family.

JOEY, I'm so glad you did this.  I was hoping someone would but I just could not bring myself to.  Heaven has another angel.  She was so caring and sharing. We need to keep her husband Michael in our prayers he is having a hard time; which is to be expected.  He has lost the love of his life.

It's a sad day when a great talent is lost to such a deadly disease. We all know that she was brave to the end and loved by all of her AR friends.

Damn.  Damn, damn, damn.

( 08/24/08 07:48PM ) — Randy L. Prothero - Hawaii REALTOR®

I am really saddened to hear that.  She will be surely missed.

Trying to gather myself here... Karen IS one hell of a talent and one great addition to a kingdom we probably don't fully understand.  I heard right before I saw your post, Joey.  My heart goes out to her loved ones...

I just sent an email to Karen's email address this week.  This definitely wasn't the msg I was looking for.  Karen will be missed here.  Somehow, we know she is in a better place.  Blessings to her family.

Joey,

Oh my, I'm so sorry to hear this. I was just thinking about Karen the other day. She was to young to leave this earthly world, God must have needed another beautiful angel in heaven.

Karen gave a lot of herself to all of us and I am one person who is richer in knowledge because of her. One time she sent me the sweetest note upon hearing of my 6-year old granddaughter who has cancer herself. God Bless you all.

( 08/24/08 08:07PM ) — Laurie Mindnich

My heart, and so many others, go out to you. That picture of Karen is wonderful.

Karen was a wonderful inspiration to us all.  She fought long and hard for her life, but now that the end has come she is free from her pain and the betrayal that cancer is to the body. That's a wonderful picture of Karen - which is how I always pictured her - vibrant and a full of life.

This is very sad. She was one of the first blogs we subscribed to on the Rain. Always had so much to share. Our thoughts are with her hubby and all tose who loved her and knew her well. She will be missed.

Wow.  All these comments sure hit home.  When it was all said and done in the end, Karen was remembered the way I for wish with all my heart.  Karen, I don't know you, but you are a great example to many.

She was the first one I subscribed to....she was someone brilliant... and such a fighter. She will be missed. Thank you for letting us know, Joey.

I have a sad heart hearing the news of the lost battle of the terrible disease and for family and friends who are left to grieve. My prayers are with the family for strength  and peace. But I rejoice with her that she is now cancer free and with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Karen please give my niece Ashley a big hug and kiss for me!

( 08/24/08 10:57PM ) — Dawn Maloney, ABR

Karen was so kind and funny and helpful.

I hate cancer.

Lovely My Joey.

I'll see you out there Karen....

Although I never met Karen in person, she and I had many email conversations.  She made a huge impact on my life in such a short time.  God be with her family, and keep her memories.

This is such sad news ... just yesterday I was reading a note Karen sent me last year that says in part, "I am so overhwhelmed by the kindness of all of the Active Rainers. I feel so blessed for your prayers and well wishes."  Karen fought a brave battle and now she's probably helping others do the same.  We'll remember her amazing spirit always.

Joey - I hope you don't mind -

I have received requests about the bank account I had set up for Karen George, from people who want to help Michael during this difficult time. The account was a beneficiary account which has been closed. I have set up a PayPal account for those who have an interest in helping Michael until he is able to get back on his feet and do loans again. He was Karen's partner in both life and work.

A touching eloquent post, Joey. I just came across this brilliant lady and her blogs yesterday - too late to have her respond to one of my posts on one of her blogs, but not too late to be able to enjoy her vast number of blogs. She was a brilliant writer - could have had a career in it I can tell just from reading some of her blogs. My prayers and condolences to her husband Michael and friends and family.

I am choked up at the loss this community has but at the same time I am happy that her pain is gone.

Karen was absolutely amazing and I learned alot from her as did others.  She left a very large footprint here!

My condolences to Michael and her family.

I am so sad.  I was afraid her courageous struggle was ending by the last post on her blog.  I wish I had met her as she was such a generous person who made an impact on all she touched.  Karen, we will always love you!

A sad day in the Rain for everyone.  I can't get over how I am sitting here crying over the loss of someone I never met.  That was the power Karen had over so many.  Her kind heart touched everyone here in our AR community.  We will all feel the loss of one less very special rain drop.  Our hearts go out to Michael and Karen's family.  She was an inspiration to everyone whose life she touched.

She is healed and celebrating with Jesus!  Prayers go out to her family, loved ones and all those in this community who love her!

Joey - Although I only read her blog today, I quickly realized that she was a great contributor to AR and will be missed very much. It is always a sad occasion when someone looses the life due to cancer, especially at a young age. When I read of someone dying from cancer (or any other disease), I'm not quite sure whether to feel sad, or angry...let me explain.

I lost an uncle to cancer this past week.  I wrote a blog when I returned home.  You see, everyone talks about finding a cure for cancer (and a host of other diseases), and of raising money to help these organizations who are seeking cures.

So why would I feel angry?  Because there are ways to prevent and cure cancer (and many other diseases), but we ARE NOT BEING TOLD ABOUT IT.  This makes me very angry, but it also makes me sad for the families and friends who have to suffer every time someone fails in their battle against one of these diseases.

The medical industry cannot and will not tell us about the things I have just mentioned.  It would put them out of business to do so.  Hospitals would close, Doctor offices would close, and pharmacies would not be needed.  Millions of dollars would be lost.  NO...they will not be telling us about any kind of cure unless money can be made...lots of money.  Again...the ANGER rises and boils. (And some of you are probably rolling your eyes right about now.  That's what they want you to do)

Disease IS PREVENTABLE and CURABLE!  What baffles me the most is that most people are so numb to this world that they don't even care to find out for themselves if this is true.  Here is YOUR chance...I am going to be blogging about some of these things, and have started a health GROUP just for that purpose.  I've lost 3 family members in 15 months...two of them because my own family is too numb to hear how we are being lied to in this great country.  If the link to the group doesn't work for you, here is the address:  http://activerain.com/groups/betterhealth  I hope to see you there.  Come join the group and hopefully, the life of someone you know may be saved before it is too late.  Oh...invite your friends, even your enemies.   If you save the life of an enemy...you will make a friend out of him...or her.

( 08/25/08 11:31PM ) — Hemet Home Loan Guy, Joey Aszterbaum

EVERYONE: Wow. I had no idea. I have been going through some transition at work and at home and missed that this was featured.

Thank you all for your outpouring of love. Karen was a real gem. (Isn't that a beautiful picture?)

Life just wasn't meant to end that way for anyone. What a broken world we live in...and what a hope there exists for those that seek it.

There's simply no way I can respond, and why would I? These comments are like prayers...they're not meant for me. But it warms my heart.

A few folks commented on ways to make a difference...so please check them out. And keep Mike in your prayers.

( 08/26/08 05:58AM ) — Indianapolis Real Estate | Paula Henry

Gregory - I understand you have the best intentions and as an avid reader of Dr. Mercola, I know  and have read about the prevention of disease. We are right to be frustrated and angry when people we love die and they didn't have to.

Let me just say, - Karen was a healthy person who took care of herself, she hiked Squaw Peak when she could ( before her illness), ate healthily and was only 28 years old when she was mis-diagnosed. A year later she had stage 4 breast cancer. She fought a valiant fight for three years.

Yes, it makes me angry and I believe (in part) what you say, but do not believe the logic can be applied to every situation. A blanket statement likes yours misinforms, miseducates and assumes Karen had a choice.

Can it be that there was some predisposition to breast tumor no one could have known about and no amount of prevention could have prepared her for?

Our only defense against breast cancer at this point and time is regular check-ups. But to be mis-diagnosed; that is justifiable anger. The reason she was mis-diagnosed is because she did not fit the profile of a woman who could have breast cancer. She was 28, healthy, never smoked......blah, blah, blah! A simple biopsy would have given her a chance at a irradicating this disease before it spread. Ah, but the insurance doesn't pay for a biopsy if you don't fit the profile. Of course, they would have had a biopsy anyway, but when you are told you have a cyst and come back next year for your check up, you have no reason to doubt.

Karen and Michael have no legal defense because of Arizona Law. Really, it doesn't matter now, Karen is gone and her family grieves. Determined to educate, Karen and Michael were/are in the process of obtaining non-profit status from the government for SOMAD.org (Save Our Mothers and Daughters) working with a doctor  for a simple test to diagnose breast cancer at it's earliest onset. They are still waiting for their approval.

So, please do NOT assume every case of disease is a reason to raise your banner of better health.  It insinuates Karen could have done something to prevent or cure the disease which took her life.  Your post and assumption angers me.

Despite not knowing Karen, to lose someone at 28 is a terrible loss.  We wish her family and loved ones all the best in this terrible time.

Rest in Peace Karen :(

Well said, Paula.

Karen, you will be greatly missed - many tears are being shed for your loss, but we also are happy that you are no longer in pain.

She is in a better place. That should and will bring a measure of comfort.

Joey,
