Cortina Residents Launch Food Drive for the Apache Junction Reach Out Food Bank
The residents of the Cortina neighborhood, in Queen Creek Arizona, have launched a food drive on behalf of the Apache Junction Reach Out Food Bank.
With the weak economic conditions, the Food Bank is experiencing increased demand for their services. Requests for food in August 2011 were up 45% over the same period last year.
To help the Reach Out Food Bank replenish their shelves before the upcoming winter holidays, we are asking interested residents to leave food donations outside the front door of their home, on Saturday morning, October 22nd, 2011. Please leave the food donations outside no later 9:00 a.m. that morning. Collections will be made between the hours of 9 am and Noon.
Here are some of the items that are in greatest need:
For safety reasons, they are not able to accept opened packages, homemade items, baby food, perishables or foods that are past the expired date.
If possible, please choose items that are in plastic containers or cans (rather than glass containers).
