2011 has been a celebration of the automobile. It's been 125 years since the first automobile was created and is now the 50th birthday of both the Jaguar E-type, and the Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato. To celebrate the golden anniversary of this legendary vehicle, the British automobile company teamed with Italian design company Zagato to come up with a new take on the classic.
The Aston Martin V12 Zagato was unveiled at Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este 2011. Even in that parade of the finest, the Aston Martin stood out. Set next to the original Aston Martin DB4GT Zagato example on display for historical reference, the new design study more than held its own.
Aston Martin hasn’t yet revealed what exactly what the future holds for the new 12-cylinder prototype. Currently there are only a few examples in existence, to be used as racehorses for the VLN and 24-hour races at the Nürnburg-Ring.
The two-seater Aston Martin Coupe is definitely not lacking in race care qualities. A 6,0 liter V12 motor provides 517 hp and 570 newton meters of torque with an unmistakable growl. The man behind the artistic elegant lines of the new V12er is Chris Poritt, a designer who proved his excellence with the One-77.
