Recently reported in the news the City Council denied the Arizona Water Company permit allowing them to double the capacity of the existing 100,000 gallon tank which is located off Dry Creek Road and Lizard Head Lane. The current City restricts building heights to 22 feet. The water tank would have increased its height to 44 feet, making the tank the tallest water tank in Sedona.
Red Cliffs residents were strongly opposed to the Arizona Water Proposal and have been fighting it for over a year. Their concerns were lower property values and destroying the area's scenic beauty. Their recommendation is to widen the tank not make it taller.
The final vote ended with a 7-0 denial of the Arizona Water Company's appeal.
