It's SNOWING in ARIZONA!!

I just had to share some photos of the snow in Show Low. My husband and I have a cute little place in the White Mountains - about 2.5 hours from Mesa, Arizona. On Sunday it was over 100 degrees, and Monday and Tuesday over 109. We came up on Sunday and it was warm until Wednesday, and today, it started to SNOW!! This is amazing stuff! Since I love to take pictures, I've taken at least 50, and it's still snowing. Here it is, Memorial Day weekend, and it's snowing in Arizona!

View out of kitchen window

Here is a view from our kitchen window. Now, a few hours later, it is completely covered with snow.

More snow on deck

Snow on the deck and in the forest.

I've taken more, but you hopefully can see the snow flakes. It is still snowing as I type this....I'll share more tomorrow if there's any left on the ground.

Hi Teri,

I'm not sure, however from the tone of your post I believe that it is unusual for the mountains to be getting snow at this time of the year? That's quite a drop in temperature too.
Here in Ontario, I'm just so glad to be done with snow until early next winter or late fall.
What a beautiful area to have a little get-away in...I love your pictures and look forward to seeing more.

Jo

Teri, it is hard to believe. Your pictures are soooo pretty - can't wait to see more tomorrow.  Please do post.  Your yard and deck are so pretty!

Jo, it is unusual this late in the year. Temperature dropped from 89 up here in Show Low to 40's today. Amazing. It's beautiful out, though I did - once - live in the snow. Wouldn't really want to do that again. ;-) I'm sure many from the east will not think too much of it, but to an Arizonan, it's beautiful to see. ;-)

Hello Teri,

It is crazy as a late snow in the Mountains, I know all to well growing up in Durango Colorado it was like that for us to, but we sure need the Water.  Great Pic's I hope you enjoyed,

I noticed that you are a Broker, do you have agents that work for you?  The reason why I ask I teach classes and June 4th I'm having a class on FHA financing, for 3 accredited hours.  Its being held in Scottsdale at the State Mortgage Head Quarters from 1 to 4, if you or any of your agents can make it that would be great.  I would also entertain coming to the East valley or to your office to teach your group.  let me know as FHA is changing along with everything else.  cdavis@statemortgage.net

Oh my gosh it looks like home...... will it ever stop - glad you have it not me today

It cracks me up when this happens.  It's about 56 right now.  After how hot it was those couple of days, this is nice.  It's be raining, too.  Pretty photos.

Lisa, I took a ton of these photos. I remind myself of a kid! ;-) Didn't go outside though - just washed my hair. ;-) I'll share more tomorrow, promise. It is so unusual to get snow this late in the year, but the water is definitely welcomed.

Chris, I am a broker, but only myself and my brother work for me. Thanks, though. I am in the mountains, remember. ;-)

Pepper

Thesa, we're enjoying it 'cause we don't live in it. ;-)

Doreen, yup, I know the valley cooled down, and we love it when it's raining too...but we got an extra treat this time with the snow. ;-)

Teri - these are beautiful...we use to go to Pinetop and Show Low when we lived in Scottsdale.  It's awesome area.  Our weather in Vegas has been crazy too, was 109 Monday, 105 Tuesday and 75 Wednesday/Thursday!  Yes a 30 degree drop in temps overnight!

Wow! Keep taking pictures...this is a phenomenal event!

Teri I can't believe its snowing, WOW!!! I just want some rain!!!

Teri that is incredible! I guess I did not know it was even possible out in Arizona! Wow what a temp change that is!

Hi Teri,
Unbelievable!  The photos are beautiful but I am happy to be in the 70 & 80s this weekend.  Enjoy your week-end.

Amazing that there is such an extreme range of temperatures.  I had no idea that Arizona got snow like that at any time.   Very beautiful.  Thanks for posting.

I KNOW....I live in Sedona and the weather has been so so strange!  Last week 105, this week 65.....what is going on.  Just put away all my winter clothes!  Flagstaff could expect up to 2 feet at Snowbowl, too bad they closed it for the Summer, could have made a fortune this weekend.

Mary, we love it here - in the summer! Had no idea that it would snow while we were here. Very delightful! ;-)

Sally, you can't imagine. Growing up in Arizona, I don't ever remember being in the snow...lived in Utah for one year when I was 17 - saw a lot then. ;-)

Jeannette, that's what we always need - is more water. This will help defintely help the mountains from fire - at least for awhile.

Bill, yes, it does snow....but generally during the winter months - not late May. We've had lots of snow pack this year - which is great for our water supply in the desert. ;-)

Cynthia, yeah, I prefer the 70's and 80's too. That's what it is in Phoenix - from record breaking 110 to record breaking 56 or so in the valley. All within five days!!! Amazing.

Trish, as I told Cynthia above, highly unusual and major record breaking numbers. ;-)

Phil and Terry, I heard Flagstaff is really getting snow this morning!! We've had some, but none like yesterday. I would say, conservatively, we've had at least 6-9 inches...;-)

Pepper

Teri--Are you certain that you are the Teri E in AZ and not MN...Oh wait that's me. No snow here though...Thanks for sharing. Makes our late spring not seem so bad. :)

Teri, yes you would think it was you, huh? It is a treat for us since it's so unusual! ;-)

Teri - great pictures - can you believe this weather? Of course, I moved house on Tuesday and Wednesday in the blazing heat in Scottsdale - just my luck:)

Stephanie

Stephanie, no kidding? This week while it was hot? That sucks! I'm just shocked at how cool it's been even in the valley. ;-)

Pretty pictures.

It was nice in Idaho last weekend, and now it is cold. The weather has been different this year. Spring has been a long time coming.

Julie, thank you. Spring started here and then summer, and now this! Weather is just weird that way. Keeps us guessing. ;-)

Pepper

Teri - Crazy stuff, I know it! Record breaking temperatures at 110 degrees this past week and now rain and snow! What gives? Seeing some sunshine here today finally as you know.  Thanks for the fantastic pictures..love seeing freshly fallen snow. I just don't enjoy shoveling it! My sister lives in the white mtns and she loves it.

Candace, so true. I've been watching the weather reports for the valley....beautiful after Tuesday, huh? Loved watching the snow fall....beautiful. I love it here as well - during the summer. ;-)

Pepper

Fortunately the snow missed us while vacationing at Lake Pend Oreille over the Memorial weekend but like you we had the extreme heat wave just prior to that.

Whenever we get strange weather my 13 year old likes to say "it's Al Gore's fault!"

Mike

Michael, I think that the cold front came from your area, right? It was great though.....a real treat. ;-)

Teri,

This is unbelieveable! I'm shocked!  Thanks for capturing this rare view of a snow fall in Arizona in May.

Tracy, thanks for dropping by. Be sure and check out part II -- lots more snow. It was a wonderful experience. ;-)
