Surprise, Arizona is Getting a Sam's Club!

Little by little the landscape of Surprise is changing. Much of it is exciting (new shopping complexes constructed within the city guidelines to look like unique villages). Some of it is sad (the farmlands just minutes away are slowly disappearing).

Probably the next BIG addition to our city is the new Sam's Club that will be opening on the SE corner of Bell and the Loop-303. Some people may not think this is a plus. Some may wish it was a Costco. But many will become avid customers.

I still haven't seen the projected Grand Opening date but it will no doubt be before the end of the year. My guess is, they will want to have it open before the holiday shopping season begins in November. They are certainly working fast now. The parking lot has finally been poured and the lights throughout installed. The building itself will no doubt go up quickly (it sometimes seems they appear overnight).

In any event, the more ammenities and retailers we get out here in the northwest valley the less we will need to travel eastward to meet our needs. Our little city is growing up. And someday, as was told to me by someone who used to work for the Phoenix planning commission, Surprise will be the center of the valley.

Those of us that already live here already know it is a special place to live and there are MANY exciting additions on the horizon.

I know how you feel. Here on the Big Island we are getting our first Target. Our choices are limited there is Costco, Walmart and a few overpriced grocery stores. As much as we need some choices I hate to see the land built on.

Patrick - Especially on the Big Island!  The first time I visited Oahu and saw the HOV lanes going around the island I thought it was a travesty.  Definitely not what I think of when thinking of a Hawaiian paradise.  It's tough.  Living there, as you said, it's nice to have options, but it's SO HARD to see the natural, scenic landscape go by the wayside.

As far as my experience with store chains go I am more a friend of smaller shops. I'm nit saying that I'm intentionally avoid big stores but I'm more comfotable in shops where you can get to know your clerk. Not only by the name on his "Hi, my name is" card. I'm a Toronto real estate agent and I have to say that it is hard work to find smaller shops these days. But with most of them the quality of service is considerably higher than in large stores.

Kathy, It seems all beautiful places get built up.  We don't have a Sams here, we have both Costco and BJ's and I do use them for paper goods to stock up.

Kathy, we have a few Costcos and BJ's here.  They are great if you're having a party or a broker's open.  But you tend to buy a whole lot more than you would at a regular grocery store or Target.
