Volunteering at El Tour De Tucson yesterday, it was a great time meeting cyclists from all over Arizona but also from Canada, Mexico, Japan, England not to mention all over the USA!
Taking a break from registration to walk around and pick up my ride packet, I had an opportunity to meet some of the sponsors of the event. Without event sponsors, the Perimeter Bicycling Association of America (PBAA) who own El Tour, would not be able to run this event as generously, safely and smoothly as possible!
And the sponsors - including University Medical Center, Rosemont Copper, etc., had lots and lots of giveaways for cyclists - from blinking shirt lights, to water bottles, Clif Bars, chapstick, medical kits, and more!
If you going to the Expo today - here are few things you need to know:
· Parking is $8.00 in the TCC lot. Parking meters are limited to 30 minutes max and there is very little on street parking. Give yourself plenty of time to find a spot as today it will be crowded.
· Expo hours today are from 10am until 6pm.
· You will need a picture ID to pick up your packet and you cannot pick up someone else's packet this year (any idea how many times I said that yesterday??!!)
· Timing chips are different this year so it's important to go to the timing booth and make sure you listen to the instructions.
· The entire start/finish has changed - review the big map to know where to go and what time to start on ride day.
· The next Platinum meeting is Friday, November 18th at 6:30pm upstairs in the TCC.
If you are down there - stop by and say hello - even though registration is busy - I'll always take the time to say hello!
