I love Chinese food. I love good jazz. Until coming to Tucson ten years ago, the two never shared the same file space in my brain.
That was before I visited the China Rose on Speedway in Tucson, AZ.
Frank Hartline invited me to join him and his wife Cheryl for dinner last night.
The vocalist was excellent, and her partner Ely made the keyboard into an orchestra, with harmonica, horn, saxaphone and other instruments accompanying the vocalist. Tucson is a cosmopolitan town, and this duo from the Phillipines made our evening!
This short post doesn't do them or the China Rose justice, so I'll have to come back and give you a more detailed account.

I wish we had the eclectic styles of life in Arkansas like they do in big cities. I love taking trips to Dallas and getting to listen to "The Oasis: which is a smooth jazz network. No such thing around Van Buren Arkansas! And a really good Chinese or Thai place... nope... lots of buffets out here and fake Thai... not like the real stuff I find in Dallas. I would love to come to Tucson and try the local favs!

Nice post Mike, I don't know where you get all the ideas from. P.S. I am working with a couple relocating to your area. I'm not sure if they'll need a mortgage or not, if they do I will send them your way - from Wisconsin to Tucson - those lucky lucky folks!
