Doesn't this cast a different light on the phrase "Active Rain?" This is my favorite time of year in Tucson, Arizona.
Clouds build and boil, the sky darkens, lightning flashes across the sky, and the desert soaks up the precious rain!
I thought I'd share my favorite (so far) cloud photo with you.
If you'd like a printed photo, email me through Active Rain with your snail mail address, and I'll send you a 5x7 glossy. First class mail! (Why? Because you're here reading, and the rest of them aren't!) I appreciate my readers!

Wow, what a photograph. Thanks for sharing. Actually, I'd rather have a digital copy so that I can use it for a background on my desktop.
Mike,
The monsoon season is my favorite as well. Just seeing Mother Nature as all powerful as she runs her course with lighting and rain. Love it.
Over the last few years it seems like Arizona has gotten the rain while southern Nevada just ended up with humidity. It's frustrating seeing the clouds build around the mountains but not getting the relief from a quick downpour. A good thunderstorm and some nice, steady rain would be a welcome break this summer (and maybe a couple of good photo ops!)
Hi Mike... what a dark, dramatic & beautiful pic, it definitely gives a whole new meaning to Active Rain.
I love storm clouds as they have so much energy! Love the smell of rain right before it starts...
Mike,
You are very generous and as always take great photos. Thank you for the offer.
Don R.
Mike, That is a beautiful picture! You're a great photographer but more than that, it's so awesome to see how much you appreciate your surroundings....even more beautiful! :)
Hey Mike,
Wow, spectacular photo, you've captured with moment well.
Happy 4th!
One of my favorite times of year in Flagstaff, too! Have a safe and happy Independence Day, Mike!
That's beautiful! Instead of a print may I copy the photo to my computer? I promise only for my use- I'm with Vickie, above. I'd like it on my desktop. I love the monsoon. WE've had 2 storms so far here in Payson with rain, and the clouds build every day. Some days, though, they just blow around us. Here's one of my favorite cloud pics, taken (by my husband) by the Payson airport:

I'm a greatt cloud fan my wife thinks we have plenty of cloud photos but I agree it is great Thanks for sharing.
Some of my best lightning photos that I use as screen savers are from your area! Great pic.
Mike, I LOVE the monsoon season (as it is called now). ;-)
As soon as it starts to rain, everyone runs outside to see the rain which gives us an advanced notice with the smell. Love it! Love your photo as well.
I haven't seen a sunset quite like that here in FL, but we do get some spectacular ones as well! Vibrant colors usually!
Mike~ That really is a nice photo and it does put a different spin on activerain!!
Mike- I'm loving this season as well... the clean sky and smell that follows is just as great as the rain.
I'll bet that was a great show! Thanks for sharing it.

Sign me up coach! I'll be looking for my postcard! (and I'll send you one back!

Mike, wonderful photo! I lived in Scottsdale years ago and remember the August monsoon season when the sky would turn dusty and the winds would go crazy....No one warned me about that!
Mike - thanks so much for the offer of a print - I've elected to download it so I can see it on my computer. Great photo!

It does, doesn't it?!
Ron,
The closer to the equator, the more spectacular the sunsets.
Teri,
What did they use to call it in the olden days?
Lyn,
That's pretty cool.
