"The pictures in your mind becomes the stories of your life."
Cody Bateman
I've been a National Sales Manager for OPEX Corporation, an international manufacturing company based in Moorestown, NJ, so I bring something to the table.
Here's how it works:
(1) What you think shapes the words you say, and (2) our words create images in our minds.
Stick around for the lesson. I promise it can change your outlook.
Let's use my record in inviting people to join Active Rain as the example. (The sales manager in my mind tells me I'm not doing such a good job at this.) After all, in the year or so since I found this great community of bloggers...
That's the way most of us look at our accomplishments. "I'm not so good at this." "I should probably do something else." "I'm not successful like so and so."
So we paint mental pictures of our reality. We examine those pictures, and talk to our friends about them. Pretty soon, discouraged, we quit and start all over again with something else.
Rewind the tape and start over! "The pictures in your mind becomes the stories of your life."
Let's use different colors for the chart. (Colors affect our perception, and as you've heard before, perception is reality.)
Since this is working so well for me, I'm going to spend some time today...
"The pictures in your mind becomes the stories of your life."

Mike, I also have invited several people to Active Rain and a few have joined but none of them blog. Good advice here.
The glass is half full. Focus on your successes and not the disappointments. Good Blog.
I have invited 7 people. All have joined. Only 1 or two have blogged. The picture is in your mind. We all have failures and Abe Lincoln was the best of them. He didn't quit, nor should we.
Larry,
I love Abe Lincoln's story. Thanks for the reminder.
Randall,
Thanks for the encouragement!
Shirley,
Thanks for being the first to comment. See you on your blog

LOVE LOVE LOVE this post! You can take this principle and apply it to anything you do. We are limited by our humanity...but God has given us the human ability to accomplish much when we determine our goal and work for it. GREAT STUFF!! GBU!
Mike - great post about how you change looking at things (I recently changed my outlook after a Tony Robbins lecture). I have also invited people, and have been totally ignored. And then, I know of at least two that joined on their own . . .
You right, positive thinking gets positive results. I had some clients that told me bad things always happen to them and they were right, but only because of the spin the put on the situations.
Oh, in regards to the people not joining activerain... that is a result of their negativity not your salesmenship.
Mary,
It's true, isn't it?
Sharon,
Isn't it exciting to see what a fresh perspective can do for us? Thanks for commenting.
Elizabeth,
Now you've got ME excited! Thanks for the encouragement.

You are so right! I always go to listing presentations with the listing paperwork completed ready to get to work. It helps put my mind in the right mode.
