Welcome to my Blog. I'm just getting my feet wet so please bear with me. For a real quick introduction. My name is Greg McCown. I am 35, have a beautiful wife, four great kids, and I am in real estate. I both sell real estate and invest in it. I have been selling real estate for almost 14 years and really enjoy it. I have also been investing in real estate for almost 14 years. I own quite a few rental properties and have done fix-ups, vacation rentals, lots splits, and new custom spec homes. I get a thrill out of finding a great deal and selling it to someone or buying it myself.
As far as blogging goes, I thought I might mix it up quite a bit. Giving market updates, advertising a listing, advertising the latest deal I have found, or telling about a project I am personally working on should make for some interesting stories. Being my first Blog, I will just do a Market Update.
Market Update - in one word, Stagnant. For the last six months there has been 6500-6900 listings for homes in Tucson. In 2005, there were around 2500 when the market was going out of control. In 2007, Tucson reached over 8000 listings. About 5000 listings would be a good balance. In other words, there are lots of Sellers and not many Buyers. Interest rates are still very good, hovering at about 6.7% and there are a lot of good deals. Rental properties are actually starting to make sense again. For the last few years, rental properties would not even break even. Now we are finding properties that will make money.
