This has been a great day; I hope yours was, too.
My Mom used to call Sunday "the Lord's Day," and it certainly was today.
Our church meets in a high school gym in the shadow of the Pusch Ridge escarpment, a granite outcropping that defines the westerly boundry of the Santa Catalina Mountains.
The setting, as you can see, is one that inspires awe and worship.

This evening I hiked in the desert behind our home in the Tucson mountains, and was so glad I had my camera with me, as this Desert Mule Deer doe walked out of the desert palo verde scrub and across my path!
Someone introduced me at an event on Saturday as "a semi-professional photographer." It's not true. I'm just a point and shoot guy, but I do it every chance I get, and every once in a while, I get one that I really like.
If you're thinking of adding photos to your blog, jump right in! Active Rain's platform makes it so easy, even an old codger like me can do it! LOL

Very cool! I had not picked up a camera for years...then we had a new baby. She's two now. I always have a camera around now. It's fun to see what you can catch on it...sunset, sunrises, messy faces...not to mention using as a tool in my business.
Mike - I think you just might qualify as a semi pro - I have been carrying mine with me everywhere along with my new Flip.
Mike: I always make a point of taking my camera with me wherever I go. You just never know when a great opportunity for a picture will jump right out at you.
Mike- Ah, that was a scene to praise the Lord today for! WOW, very nice. I always have my camera handy, you just never know.
Mike - REALLY nice! I try to keep a camera with me at all times. I have a small, very light-weight Nikon that is almost always in my purse, and just in case, my cell phone is a camera also.
Well, for a point and shoot guy you manage to get some pretty good shots.
I travel with my camera all the time, This is an excellent and you're right great view to worship in.
Mike, Those are amazing pics. Sorry I can't add any pics to ths post. Great post
Mike - I love those pictures and the deer - well funny that you saw this today - when we arrived home from church today a white tailed deer was standing in our yard but my camera was in my pocketbook and she was gone before I could get it out.
Hi Mike,
Your photos are always great and you live in an area where the scenery is awesome. Yes, AR does make it easy to add our photos, lucky for me a novice photographer.
My eyes
out of my head at some of your beautiful photos. Love the PR shot. I wish I still had the drawings I did of it from our yard when I was in hi school.
Mike: The deer photo looks like a painting, doesn't it? Very nice! You're a pro in my book! :)
I keep a digital camera in the glove box of my car so that I can get random shots kinda like this. Excellent advise.
Love your photos, and have added a Photo of the Day to my main blog. I take photography classes every chance I get so always have my cameras with me, and my Flip. Love that mule deer!
Those darn deer! We had 2 by our back door yesterday, but I was not that quick with a camera!
Your friend in Charlottesville Virginia!
Mike,
I envy your talent with a camera. Thank you for sharing with us.

As always...you capture a fabulous picture!

Something about the wildlife that makes me feel like the busy day can wait. Thanks for sharing.
I just love your pictures...I've been thinking to get another camera that is easy to download my pictures on the net...
Hi Mike,
Looks like you had such a wonderful day. Your photos are beautiful, thanks for sharing the moments.
Lynda,
You're so welcome! Thanks for stopping by to read and comment.
Donna,
Thank you. Digital cameras are cheap at Costco. Be sure to get one with a glass lens, not plastic. Mine is a Panasonic with a Leica lens, and it has an optical zoom of 10. I think it goes for about $200.
Terry,
Isn't that the truth! Thanks for commenting.
Cheron,
You're kind. Good to see you.
Linda,
I do feel blessed to live where I do. Also to have fine Texans like yourself as friends. Thanks for commenting.
Don,
Anyone can do it. The deer photo was blurry, and I almost discarded it. Then I decided to see what bumping up the contrast a little would do for the pic, and voila! It sort of looks painterly!
Charles,
They're everywhere. I'm sure they'll be back, posing for you.
Susie,
I'll have to come take a look-see. That sounds like a great idea!
Clint,
I'll see you soon on your blog.
Jan,
It does sort of look painterly, doesn't it? I took the photo at twilight, with no flash, and was moving the camera to follow the doe as I clicked the shutter.
Doreen,
Come on back. What do you mean by the PR shot? I'm in the dark.
Cynthia,
You do a great job with your photos on your blog! thanks for comenting.
Judy,
She'll be back, and you'll get the photo.
Matt,
Thanks for the encouragement!
Missy,
Thanks for stopping by; it's good to see you. "The earth is the Lord's..."
Jesse,
Yes, I do! You're pretty handy there yourself.
Mary,
Sounds like belt and suspenders! thanks for commenting.
Katerina,
Amen to that!
Karen Anne,
Right you are! Thanks.
Virginia,
Maybe I'm an expert! (An EX is a has-been, and a SPERT is a drip under pressure.) LOL
Shanna,
Thanks for being the first to comment. Where's a pic of that baby? I'm a grandpa, and love to see people show off their little ones.

Boy, have I missed you! I'm so glad to know that you're like the ocean. Even when I'm off doing other "important' things... you're still here. Still giving us a great perspective of "your" little corner... thank you. it's late here - and I still looked forward to a "little piece" of Arizona.
Mike, once again beautiful pics for us. I mentioned you in my blog again and posted 2 sunsets that will make you proud!
Susan
I keep camera handy for my birds but they are quick little devils.

Pusch Ridge, looks like you are north of it? and a little east? or am I way off?
Doreen,
The first photo was taken at Catalina State Park, just north of the location of Pusch Ridge Academy. Good eye, girl!

I never leave home without..but need to use it more. Thanks for the post.
