Live Venomous Critters at the Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum in Tucson, AZ (1 of 2)

Western diamondback rattlesnake at the Desert MuseumSaturday night entertainment. My Darlin' and I were on the very front row. My choice. She's a saint. The venue was an auditorium at the Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum, just down Kinney Road from our neighborhood, Tucson Estates II.

The two speakers for the evening came walking down the auditorium aisle carrying boxes with holes in the sides and padlocks on the top. The tops are painted bright red. They house desert creatures who can put a hurting on you if you're not careful.

To give you an idea about the size of the Western Diamondback Rattlesnake here, consider that the folding table is 48" side to side.

The Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum is one of my favorite places on earth. They don't just display animals. They educate us about them. Nothing that I thought I knew about treating snakebite turned out to be true. None of it! And I thought I knew a thing or two.

Mike,

Never let it be said that you don't know how to show a girl a good time!

Mike,

I am glad that you learned how to treat a snake bit, being that close and all.

Don,

I learned that you need two things, and two things only in a snake-bite kit:  car keys and a cell phone!

Mike,

That's what she said!  LOL  It's good to see you.  Thanks for being the first to comment.

If I get snake bit how long for you to get to Michigan? We have a few Rattle snakes here but I've seen them in Arizona and they seem bigger than the one's Ive seen here. I would enjoy going throught the  museum.

Terry,

They have anti-venom in the ER, even in Michigan.  That stuff's expensive.  $40,000 to $100,000 before doctor, hospital, etc.

The Desert Museum is one of the 10 best zoos in the world.  Come on out!
