Fun news for you pet lovers out there! Finally an event that puts our little town of Chilliwack on the Map!
On St. Patrick's Day, a Chilliwack standard poodle called "Charlie" whelped a record brood: 16 puppies!

Charlie, whose name comes from the TV show Charlie's Angels began the birthing process on St. Patricks Day....although reportedly none of the puppies came out green!
For the owner, Charlie's more then a poodle, some would call her a 'cash cow'...as purebread puppies sell for $1200 each!
Canadian Kennel Club Spokesman confirmed that 16 puppies is a Canadian record for poodles, and there's a good possibility Charlie has also set a world record for standard poodles, and they're awaiting confirmation from The Guinness Book!
The owner is currently organzing a contest to select Irish-themed names for the St. Patrick's Day pups...:-)
Any suggestions?

Cute story...and a happy ending. But, doesn't this make a person glad they are a dog!
Love the beagle picture. There are a number of standard poodles here in Sequim. I see them at the dog park. Those dogs love to run. The ones at the dog park show way more personality than the ones at the dog shows I watch on tv.
OMG!!! Those are soooo cute!!! I love the smell of puppies!!!
Hey Liz, I just saw this on the late night news in Los Angeles last night! They're precious. Cheers, Harley
Hey Liz, Isn't that amazing?! 16 pups! I couldn't imagine paying that much for a puppy, but it kind of makes me wonder if I'm in the wrong business. LOL
We were discussing this in my Poodle group. 16 times the pleasure. BTW babies from a good line can sell for as much as $2500.
Awwwww! Liz, I love dogs and this is an incredible story, I can't imaging 16 little guys scampering around, though I'm sure the owner is thinking Cha-Ching!LOL! They are adorable!
William - i'm not sure it makes me wish i was a dog.......or did you mean glad i'm not? lol
Kathy - I guess in the show - they're on a tight leash? grin Love the Beagle pic too - my neighbour has one and he's adorable!
Kristi - they are adorable......the smell? hmm depends on what they've been doing...:-)
Harley - way down there in L.A......hmm like I said - now Chilliwack is on the map - officially! I wanted to tell - your name is too cool! :-)
Bo - yep I was thinking it was a lot......but Gayle says they could go as high as $2500! And I'm think that some people do do it as a business!
Gayle - A Poodle group... wow.......that much .....very interesting!
Liz: Perhaps none of those sixteen puppies were green... but I am guessing that poor ol' mom Charlie was probably getting pretty close to it ! Whew ! That poor lil boy puppy with his "I didn't do it" sign... so adorable. A nice touch !
So tell us all... where did the name Chilliwack come from ? I think the name is too cool ! That poor lil boy puppy with his "I didn't do it" sign... so adorable. A nice touch !
OK Liz- can I admit that I thought this was an April Fools joke post?
Wow, that is just crazy. Thanks for sharing the post. Jim
Karen Anne - The 'Anne' will always remind me of your story!....and maybe I'll do a Blog about the name Chilliwack (Its a First Nations name..:-)
Chuck - Cute! I forgot it was April Fools - when theres no little ones around to remind you anymore
Jim - Ya, ummm ....I can only imagine, NOT! lol
They are just too cute. If I didn't have so many allergies, I would buy one of these to be part of the family.
Liz, someone better get started finding homes for all those guys. Wow, what a story in your area.
Joan - Yep I have allergies too ! 6 months of weepy eyes and 5 specialists later that was the diagnosis!
Gary - I think I read in one of your blogs that you have dogs?.....and a big back yard's a must?.........It is an interesting community as far as thats concerned.......I have to say I see more people walking their dogs then I see walking their kids! :-)....
Liz - What beautiful puppies. Nothing like the smell of puppy breath. I hope you have some good homes lined up. Hugs to Charlie - She is going to be a busy momma. I love the boy dog sign too! Very cute.
Elizabeth: Thanks! I feel like they were mine...smile....I liked the beagle sign too!
Amazing, my rottweiler had 11 a few yrs back and I was overwhelmed with that!! I can't imagine 16...I hope they have a good setup...it sure is hard work
Patrice: I was thinking - what an amazing experience for the kids!
That must be one tired mama! It sure is amazing what our animals are capable of!
