Qigong (1) Moves Energy - stress buster

I don't know the translation, but Qi is chi - energy. Cheegung is how it's pronounced, loosely anyway.

While beneficially 'auspicious' to all ages, it is no accident whatever, that older people especially get into Qiging and Tai Chi. Qigong is a sort of primer or precursor to, and less structured than, Tai Chi.

In another post I related how I'd wanted to take Qigong because I'd heard it was good for women my 'age'. Being too tired and busy to go anywhere after a days work, I had somehow inadvertently 'intentioned' it right to my front door - classes across the street! http://activerain.com/blogsview/140730/Some-Things-Just-Come

The instructor, Hajime' is a bit of a maverick master, whom I appreciate very much. He refers to himself a Zen dropout - or urban daoist! This very humble man knows what works without all the 'rules' attached. I relate to him.

I have to move stuck energy in my (aging) body. Stuck energy shows up as stress points, aches, pains, anxiety, stress.

You can very simply practice Qigong anytime - even a few minutes helps, but up to an hour is great. Qigong can help you sleep very well, strengthens and relieves stress very effectively.

Hajime' - Harold Naka teaches Qigong and Tai Chi in Kelowna. He holds many classes throughout the city including at the Unitarian Church on Bertram St. I highly recommend his gentle approach.

Stress has become a byword that few get a grip on, until ....it grips you. http://activerain.com/blogsview/210515/Are-you-close-to

Deborah, I love that you took this!  I keep recommending it to my daughter.  This was an optional, early morning class in Feng Shui that we didn't have to attend but I did and I loved it.  I've been back for classes a few times on and off through the years and find it very helpful and relaxing.  Great post!

Thanks for your comments on your own experience Carole -  Qigong is movement so natural and freeing it is a wonder that we don't live more this way. Hajime' is a wonderful example of life lived very simply close to nature.

Another great post Deborah! Glad to see you posted on stress. Its such an important thing in many of our lives and some of the simplest of activities can help save us from its clutches. Thanks for the great suggestion!

Great to hear from you - how's it going with the baby? You are so correct Shellee. Stress has become a byword that most underestimate until it becomes serious. I've been there and so don't hold back offering warning and solutions.

;) Thanks!

I followed your link from the other post here, so I'll continue--the instructor I mentioned--he's a World Champion Martial Arts Master...at 70.  Very interesting guy...doesn;t look anywhere near his age, either, if that's another plug for working your 'chi'!

You're every interesting yourself Loretta! - These people involved in the eastern arts have definitely found the value of moving energy, including age reversal. They are able to maintain youthfulness of body and mind.

Thanks for stopping in!
