The Little Dining Room That Could...

While Celebrate Staging tends to attract homes of a grand nature resulting in dramatic transformations, sometimes it is nice to do a little job now and then that is pure joy and stress free. This was the case with a darling little Rancher in Ladner. Russ Nugent , fellow AR member, and overall great guy, contacted us with a listing that had been on the market for 4 weeks with no interest. After two very successful outcomes of his previous listings he had us stage, one of which was featured in "Turning a Builder into a Staging Beleiver" , he knew that we would be the designers to call in and turn this little place around.

While this 1300sqft rancher recently had a nice little makeover, boring was a slight understatement. Our immediate focus was the ugly brick fireplace. We chose a fabulous Benjamin Moore color "Willow" to give it real "POP" and had the old plain bathroom cabinets painted the same. The next order of business was to establish a proper defined dining room. As with most of our staging jobs we budget in new lighting to our staging fees- colour, light and staging are winning combinations to sell a home!! We chose a FABULOUS fixture to compliment the Willow color of the adjacent living room fireplace. We also chose fun and bright accessories and new cabinet hardware to liven up the dated bathroom countertop and turned it from nasty to fresh!! Have a look at the transformation, we really fell in love with the dining room and with the next open house hopefully it will capture a prospective buyer's heart!! Here's a look at the transformation....~ Emily, Celebrate Staging

Nice work.  I love the fireplace color!

I'll say it could and you did, fantastic work.  All the rooms have dramatic changes.

You did a great job!  I love the bench in the entryway.

You do such beautiful work! I love how you updated the bathroom cabinets while finding a very complimentary way to tie the older counter tops in with color! Great job at using what you had and making is spectacular!!

Wow, painting the fireplace changed the whole look. Also like the painted cabinets and new hardware in the bathroom. Whole thing is great! Good job!

Emily:  I just know in advance that when I see you have a new blog post from seeing you towards the top of my blog post roll... that when I click on it... I am going to see something really great.  Gee... it worked again.  You do such awesome work.  Thanks for sharing.

And of course... the way your customized your Active Rain blog page is just great.  I really like what you did.  I wish I were even 20% as able as you appear to be.  Take care...

Hi Emily,  As usual, fabulous job!  I love the slipcovered white dining chairs.  Did you purchase the chairs with the slipcovers?  Would you mind sharing your source for these chairs?  We used to purchase similar chairs from ay Company, but now that they are not in business any more, we've yet to find these slipcovered parsons chairs.  Thank you for sharing!

Very dramatic!  I love the lighting and colors.  It looks really fresh and hip.  The bathroom was dated before, but the changes you made really pulled it together.

Dawna, yep those counters were bad and the green toilet, tub & sink weren't helping but I really liked the bathroom after and wondered if we would maybe help green make a comeback-NOT!!

Karen, you are too sweet!!

Diana, the chairs were bought quite a long time ago and I think it was a liquidation type place, we have our own seamstress/upholstery gal would does all our slip covers for us, we just shop the fabric and she is really fast. I see parson's chairs all the time at Homesense. We had another set upholstered in my other blog "Vancouver home stagers flip for this condo" and they were used with this same table. Good luck!! ~Emily

Hi guys! It's great to see what a little imagination, ingenuity, and design sense can do to a tired little bungalow. I love your colour choices, and fabrics...kudos to you and your seamstress.

Excellent job!  This transformation defines the art of staging exactly!  You created an inviting space out of a house that was shall we say ,"less than desirable".  I love how you updated the look of the fireplace, the red brick definitely dated the room.  A simple coat of paint, and your creative spirit have brought all these elements together to bring continuity throughout the house.  I am sure that your client was extremely happy with the results!  Congratulations and continued success!

What a fantastic staging job and great photos too!

I'd be surprised if this didn't sell in the first hour.  Your work continues to amaze me.  In fact, I find myself anxiously awaiting a new set of before and afters!  And... were your ears ringing yesterday and the day before and the day before that?  I'm constantly talking about you two!  Thanks for sharing your beautiful work.

Congratulations.  Your post is being featured in the group Staging Before and After Pictures.

This is excellent work!  I love the simplicity of the floral arrangement on the table.

(05/07/08 07:32PM) — Amy Prouty

Everything looks so awesome. Can you tell me exactly what kind of paint and/or primer you used on the fireplace!

Fabulous.  I think the bathroom is my favorite...I'm afraid the new owners will be disappointed to move in with it empty that's how fabulous it looks staged!!!!!  Your accessories make that bathroom look retro-on-purpose!!!  Love it!

Emily,

WOW!  I love the color of the fireplace.  Very dramatic.  And as a Certified Lighting Professional your choice of lighing is stellar.  You did magic on this small but awsome place.

Excellent!  Thanks for sharing.

Looks great! I really like the color used on the fireplace, it changed everything. Love looking at your before and afters

I really love these before and after pictures.  I met with a builder a few months ago, a $2,000,000 home in the Evergreen area - he didn't see the value of staging. He thinks his wonderful constructions tells the whole story.  I don't have the listing!

Absolutely beautiful!!!  And I don't say that to everyone; I loved every photo!

Again you girls are fabulous stagers. You have a wonderful style, love seeing your work.

Alexandra and Emily,

You have the coolest furniture and accessories and I love the new chandelier and fireplace color.

Aloha Alexandra & Emily,

Another job well done ladies, I like the refinished fireplace and bathroom cabinets, small changes make a big impact. Photographs are fab as usual!

Peace,

A big THANK YOU to everyone for the huge response to this post and the fantastic comments, we just received word that the home is officially sold. They had 4 interested parties but the sellers were very particular about the details of offers so that significantly slowed the process. At least there was a happy ending!!
