From Victoria to St John's, from Montreal to Kandahar Afghanistan (home of Canada's Armed Forces Base) Tim Horton's is clearly the choice for Canadians when it comes to coffee. Canadians love their Timmy's preferring a morning cup from there to Starbucks by a 4-1 ratio.
Not only does the popularity of Tim's cross all socio-economic boundaries, wealthy, middle class to poor it also crosses political boundaries. Whether you support Stephen Harper, Michael Ignatieff, Jack Layton or a Quebec separatist supporter of Gilles Duceppe you are likely to order from Canada's number one franchise.
A poll conducted by Harris-Decima interviewed 1000 Canadians across Canada.
Tim's was most popular in Ontario, with 56 per cent of the respondents. Starbucks had its biggest support in British Columbia, where only 25 per cent chose it, against 43 per cent who went for Tim's.
Tim Hortons was the choice of 51 per cent of men and 47 per cent of women across the country.
The poll questioned about 1,000 people in an omnibus telephone survey April 23-May 3 and is considered accurate to within 2.2 per cent 19 times in 20.
