It's Snowing..... In Victoria you say?

Wow!........ It never Snows here !!! Well hardly ever. You sure would not want to make a bet on it snowing here.

7:30 AM I woke up this morning to a light dusting of snow on our road...Dec 1 Snow ..within an hour it was coming down fairly heavily

Heaveier snow

I grabbed my cup of coffee and read my paper, wondering to myself if it'll keep up; I planned to go to my Saturday morning workout in an hour. I cleaned of the snow on my car with a broom,I made my class okay, after I came home to take my wife Jane off to Work, she looked like she was dressed for the North Pole, the roads were now fine as the tempiture moved above freezing...funny how that works. I'm sure Jane was boiling in her Heavy Clothes.

Now... its 4PM as I write this wee story and the snow is almost all gone...good news! Snow is almost gone

Until tonight??

This Winter Environment Canada has forecasted that we will have a colder than normal Winter right across Canada, due to La Nina, (this is caused by Easterly trade winds in and around Peru and Ecuador, in turn bringing Colder water to the West Coast Ocean's surface).

:O(...We do not even have snow plows in Victoria, just a few Municipal trucks with snow blades on the front and sand spreader for icy roads...Al Gore what happened to Global Warming ??? I was expecting warm Florida weather year round in a few years and the Ocean Warm enough to swim in. No such Luck, our waterfront here is warmed a little with the Japanese Gulf Current to 50 degrees year round that's it. Our 50 degree Ocean keeps our Summer not to Hot and our Winter fairly warm, with no or very little snow. Most of the time....

That's it I'm making plans to Move to Florida soon where it's always warm and real estate is Cheap! Right Katerina, Sharon, Bryant, Allison and all our Friends in AR selling Real Estate in Florida, it's got to tuff going to working in the heat all the time ?

Seriously, Ya'll don't  get much snow in your area of Canada?

Sean Allen

Fred,

We received a light dusting of snow here at the Ocean this morning!  We moved back to Wa state from South Dakota and my husband promised me that it NEVER snowed at the Ocean in WA.  The flakes were huge and it was begining to feel alot like Christmas!

Happy Holidays,

Steven Simmons & Marti Schmidt, Realtors, Prudential GHP, beautiful Ocean Shores, WA.

Right now in Bremerton WA on my little hill I have 1.5 inches!!

Wow, I always assumed all parts of Canada got their fair share of snow.

Sean...it hardly goes to freezing levels at night, very seldom does it get much colder during the winter, Day time weather runs 40 to 50 degrees many days. The Prevailing weather coming from the West Coast Pacific Ocean, It's hard to snow when the water temp. is 50 degrees and warming all the air mass that travels over it before hitting land.

Marti..Steve probably forgot, in any event it does not go to -30 below like eastern North America, there will be many days you can go golfing.

Jo..have a snooze or do your Christmas decorating and baking, it's been gone soon.

Frederick...and you probably think we live in Igloo's? Just kidding, we have 11 world class golf courses, Tennis is a winter activity and bike ridding is huge with all our Bike trails. Very Mild weather here normally.

HHHHmmm, That is very interesting. I definitely learned something new today. I would have thought ya'll got lots of snow.....amazing.

Thanks for the education.

Fred- That is quite a surprise to have snow in Victoria. When I got your email this morning the first thing that came to my mind was what happened to global warming too! WoW! That is surprising! I know the area and I know it does not get much snow.

As far as moving to Florida we will be happy to help you relocate! 80 degree water most of the year! Like a bathtub! It gets tough in the summer heat but that only lasts a few months, then it is wonderful the rest of the year! ;) Katerina

Wow that is unusual out there. I remember the last big snow out there must have been about 7 years ago right?

Fred - Don't let Nestor and Katerina fool you we were on Sanibel Island one year for Christmas and we had to wear our winter jackets. There was Ice/Frost on the Beach and the fruit crops were devestated by the frost. We ended up packing up and going to the keys were it was a little bit warmer

Wishing you all a White Christmas (we currently have about six inches)

Sean...Thanks for visiting, I'm sure you can tell me a lot about your Home area too. you're welcome to Come to Victoria anytime, most fall in love with our city and life style.

Katerina..I'm sure you would be a excellent Realtor to point me in the right direction, but then if we moved there you might see me as a competitor and sell me some swap...just kidding, when it gets to Hot come to the Northwest like everyone else.

Todd and Danielle..I think you are referring to our Blizzard of 96, we had almost 5 feet of snow in one night, certainly a record, but the temperature was right at freezing. I remember it well, I got up on Sunday Morning wondering why my Kitchen was Dark, the Snow was half way up the windows, I shoved a path from my dinning room to my kitchen so my wee dog could go outside, then shoveled Snow off my Living roof which was flat, because we feared Rain was coming and the weight of snow and rain would be too much, it never rained, but our wee city was shut down, with no snow removal equipment...Talk to me Al Gore

Kathy....thanks for the info, I'm sure Katerina and Nestor are safe, and I'm sure like here you would not like to Bet on it snowing in Wellington, Florida. Most of the West Coasters go to Mexico or Hawaii to get some sun.

How long is your winter season(snow)?

Chers, Merry Christmas to you too!

Fred,

Yes, you are correct, we don't get -30, thank goodness.  I spoke with my mother in Rapid City, SD yesterday and their temp was -2!  So glad to be in the Pacific Northwest with the mild temps.

Remember the huge snow storm in the early 90's?  It was incredible in the Seattle area, people were just parking their vehicles on the freeway and walking away.  For several days, the streets were littered with abandoned vehicles.  It was quite a site!

Marti..It's Raining today and just above freezing here, Todays Weather is called the Pineapple Express a term used for the weather system coming from Hawaii.  The storm you are referring to....see my comment above, it was called the Blizzard of 96.

Enjoy your day in the Rain, and maybe few snow flakes here and there.

Cheers, have an awesome day!

Fred -Last year very short (on and off for about 2 1/2 to 3 months) and not a lot of snow we've had snow on the ground now for a couple of weeks which is early for us also the river behind our house started to freeze up this weekend something it usually does not do until January. It looks like were in for a loooong cooold one this year

(12/02/07 11:53PM) — Fred Carver,Victoria BC Realtor

Kathy....Check out the link above to Environment Canada, they are predicting a very Cold Winter for All of Canada, so much for Mr. Gore's prediction the world is warming fast.

Get out your Ice skakes sounds like you'll be skating on the River for Christmas.

Cheers, have an awesome day.
