My Vancouver - Downtown Eastside

The Downtown Eastside is an old part of Vancouver. It's origins go back to the days of the railroad coming to Vancouver. This is a small area geographically speaking.

The area is also infamously known as a place where there are an abundance of low cost housing called SRO's (Single Resident Occupancy) exist. As time passes, more initiatives will see these dwellings improved.

The boundaries of the area are Burrard Inlet on the north, Cambie Street on the west, Main Street on the east, and Quebec Street on the south.

In 2008, 36 strata properties sold in Downtown Eastside at an average sale price of $398,000.
