Historic Stewart Farm - Crescent Beach - Surrey - Vancouver - B.C.

On my way back from Point Roberts I decided to stop by one of my favorite places.... Crescent Beach - and on my way I passed the sign for The Historic Stewart Farm. I can't tell you how many times I've driven by there and never gone in! Always wanted to - meant to -.....but never did! So I did a U-E and...decided to explore!

Crescent Beach

Situated in Elgin Heritage Park on the banks of the Nicomekl River features a beautifully restored and furnished 1894 farmhouse, pole barn, root cellar and heirloom gardens and orchard in a lovely pastoral setting.

This farmhouse thrived as a hay farm for 60 years, but now it is a great representation of what life was like at the turn of the century. The farmhouse is a shining representation of Victorian rural architecture.

The adjacent Hooser Weaving Centre gives a terrific demonstration of the art of textile making, and houses a collection of spinning wheels and looms.

Visiting is like stepping back in time to the days of horse drawn farm tools, hand churned butter and wood stove cooking.

There are guided tours, demonstrations and special events offered year - round....by staff and volunteers dressed in Victorian-style costumes. Hmm and I was thinking - it would make a wonderful setting for a Wedding!

Closed Mondays and Statutory Holidays. Suggested admission: $2/adult, $1/student, 5 & Under: Free.
Address: 13723 Crescent Road Surrey BC Canada V4P 1J4
Phone: 1 604 502-6456

I had to add this photo of the bench - what caught my eye was the dedication on the bench which read... "To the World you may be One Person - But to One Person You are the World" - it really made me pause and reflect........frankly it hit me as being so poignantly true.......

Liz, beautiful pictures. I love that quote on the bench BTW. It is one of my favorites in how just "one" person can mean so much to another. Glad you took the time to walk over and read the dedication.

Thankyou Gary...I don't know that THAT wasn't the best part of my detour!  :-)

WOW, does God know what others mean to us.  I was thinking earlier how much the emails have meant to me recently and then you post this with that Quote.  Not only that but you also provide pictures that allow dreams to surface that are peaceful and make traveling to other parts of our World desireable.  Thanks for all you have sent.

I love the looks of this ome, Liz! I need to get up your way before Summer goes away!

Liz - these photos are beautiful, I love the ocean one and the one with the apples on the tree. Keep it up!

Wayne you're a poet! You spin and weave your words so beautifully! You are so welcome.......You've done the same for me and had a Word for me just when I needed it!  :-)

Christina do head up North one day soon, its breathtakingly beautiful........but then again I remember being in Idaho and thinking the same thing!  Just a different type of beauty!

Robert - those are my two favorites as well!  :-)Thank you...

Liz, you're killing me with this stuff.  I hope you feel up to showing me all this, and more, when I visit you.  You're not making the wait any easier.  I'm not sure I'll want to come back here.
