Looks like a neat thing to do. I knew it was for training but I don't know where it came from.
Hi John...A young Officer Trainee told us while we were waiting To Board the eagle, about her being a War Prize, Check the Link above for the History of the Great Sailing Ship.
Cheers, thanks for Visiting!
Oh nice photo essay. We had those ships in Mobile, Alabama several years ago and my husband and I recall the visit as one of the truly most memorable we ever had here. They are fascinating. Thanks for the photos!
Wow, that's wonderful to see I bet. Tell them to visit Saint John, New Brunwick. We have many Cruise ships coming here. That would be a welcoming event. It would work condusively when the Cruise ships and tall older ships are there together. What a site that would be. Awesome photos. THANKS!!!

Hi Fred - what great pictures you took. The Tall Ships are coming back here to Portsmouth this summer. Last year, we were quite fortunate to have had 5 or 6 of them come into our port on the same weekend, including the Coast Guard Cutter 'Eagle'. That one typically comes into our port on a yearly basis. I never tire of seeing these majestic beauties, not at all.
Ann
