I've featured several great small towns in some of my past posts, and would like to focus this post on the charming and exciting small towns in East Contra Costa County. Contra Costa County is a fast-growing, highly accessible portion of the San Francisco Bay area, and the many charming small towns in East Contrac Costa County offer abundant possibilities for sightseeing, entertainment, and natural beauty, along with excellent transportation and a keen dedication to conservation and the environment. The area has a rich history, and a fascinating Historical Society and Museum is located in Brentwood.

Brentwood

The small city of Brentwood, located about 60 miles east of San Francisco is surrounded by the beautiful waterways of the Delta, bringing fishing, boating, and water skiing right to the backyard of Brentwood's 40,000 residents.

Antioch

Antioch, California, with a population just over 100,000, is located on the banks of the San Joaquin River, and is considered the Gateway to the Delta. It has become the heart of Eastern Contra Costa County, with loads of available activities including the County Fair, the Prewitt Family WaterPark, and wonderful shopping and recreational activities.

Discovery Bay

Discovery Bay is one of the quaint, small farming communities in the Sacramento Delta. It was developed as a planned community in the 1970's, and has become a fishing and boating paradise.

Oakley

Oakley is one of California's newest cities, incorporated in July of 1999. There is great availability of affordable housing in Oakley.
