The Burbank Public Library will be partnering with The Huntington Library in San Marino to host a Big Read celebration of Jack London's The Call of the Wild this October. A grant from the National Endowment for the Arts was awarded to The Huntington which will help fund a series of events including lectures, book discussions, dramatic readings, films, and musical performances. The attorney can also prepare health care directive documents if you would like to have them. Home Borrowers Delivery Service The Burbank Public Library provides DELIVERY SERVICE to Burbank residents who cannot come into the library or carry books home due to age, illness (other than contagious disease), and temporary or permanent disabi l i ty. A volunteer will deliver library materials ( not only books, but books on tape or CD, videos, DVDs, and even magazines) every four weeks on a day and time agreed to with the home borrower. Front office receptionist volunteer needed to provide assistance to staff and guests. Major duties include: Answering and directing phone calls; Greeting participants; Providing requested information; Ability to handle interruptions in a calm and friendly manner. Both morning and afternoon shifts are available. Openings currently available on Tuesdays; other days open up periodically. Full training on phone and location of regularly requested information. Staff backup at all times.

What is Everybody Wins!? Everybody Wins! is a national nonprofit organization founded in 1991 by Arthur Tannenbaum, a retired textile industry executive. Its mission is to increase children's prospects for success in school and in life through one-to-one reading experiences with caring adults. Everybody Wins! -- the volunteers, their companies, the schools, the students and ultimately, society.
Power Lunch. Volunteers are needed for the Power Lunch program - a reading session where elementary school students share lunch, conversations, and literature for an hour, once a week, with a local corporation or organization volunteer.
What is the time committment required? Volunteers commit to one lunch hour per week for a school year.
