Summer is about here, school is almost over, and it's time to get your kids enrolled in day camps or other programs during the summer, if you haven't done so already.
The number of variety of programs to choose from in the North County San Diego area (especially Carlsbad) is mind boggling - surfing, sports, academics, religious, art, music and so much more. Here is just a sampling of opportunities to fit a wide range of interests, schedules (some are short term so you can fit in several of them this summer), and budgets to keep the kiddos busy, learning and having fun this summer:

Boxing and Jiu Jitsu - visit LA Boxing
Supercamp - at Cal State San Marcos, on campus for 10 days for learning and life skills (grades 6-8 and 9-12)
Summer Jazz Band Camp - ages 12 - 15
Surfing (there are many options - no surprise, given where we live) - Sol Surf Camp (6 and up), Surfing Fire Surf Camps (a broad range of programs for all ages, year-round), Dawn Patrol Surf in Encinitas, among others
LabCampz (Encinitas Country Day School) - the focus is on biology, the world's biomes; field studies, research and there is an International LabCamps component.
Coast 2 Coast Irish Soccer camps - multiple locations
North Coast Equestrian Park summer camps
Martial Arts Camps in La Costa
Rawhide Ranch Camp - co-ed overnight, ages 7 - 15, located in Fallbrook (east of Oceanside)
There are a bunch of camps through the Carlsbad Parks and Recreation Department:

The Rawhide Camp Ranch sounds like my kind of place (well, 20 or so years ago anyway!).
Susie - HA HA, yep, me too. It's been many years since I've been on a horse. Guess I like my feet planted on the ground.

Jeff, I can't beleive that school is almost over. Thank goodness for summer programs like these, to keep kids off the streets.
Oh my goodness. I didn't even think about summer events for kids. I should be posting some blogs like that. Now that my daughter's in college, these things just slipped my mind.
George - yeah, time is really flying. It doesn't seem right that this weekend is Memorial Day (although it IS early this year)
Lisa - me too. I just happened to see an article that reminded me it was time. Glad I don't have to worry about coordinating all this while trying to work.
