Carlsbad home buyers have a diversity of choices when searching for a new home, depending on their budget and the area they prefer to live in.
There are many different Carlsbad neighborhoods and subdivisions, and each one has a different feel and appeal. Knowing which neighborhoods are likely to offer the homes that meet your requirements will save you time in your searching. For many, because of affordability, the choices are financially driven. And since there are lots of things to do in Carlsbad, some buyers prefer to live near these amenities and activities.
Calavera Hills is a newer planned community in the northeast quadrant of Carlsbad, just a few miles west of Carlsbad Village and the beaches. Built in a fairly hilly area, many of the homes offer terrific views of the Carlsbad back-country and even distant ocean views.

Mystic Point is one of the neighborhoods in Calavera Hills. Built in two sections with 12 phases (on either side of College Boulevard near Carlsbad Village Drive) by Brookfield homes, Mystic Point consists of about 250 town homes with 3 different floor plans, sizes and prices.
Completed in 2005 and 2006, these newer town homes are near several schools in the Carlsbad Unified School District and well as the Calaveras Park (site of several of Carlsbad's free summer TGIF Jazz in the Parks series). There are lots of hiking trails and open space, and the location on the hills affords some home owner dramatic views. Both of the sections of Mystic Point have a pool and spa area open only to residents.
These Carlsbad homes are all attached, and range in size from 2 to 3 bedrooms (the 2 bedroom units have offices), 2 or 2.5 baths and about 1341 to 1535 SF of living space on two floors (some of the units are ground level, while the 2 BR units are up one flight of steps). There are 2-car attached garages (some are double, others are 2 single garages). The community sold out fairly quickly, and only resales are available.
As of this writing, there are 8 Carlsbad homes for sale in Mystic Point ranging in price from $395,000 up to $549,000 (with 2 and 3 bedrooms and 1341 to 1535 SF). There are, unfortunately, some short sales, and prices reflect the recent market shifts, with homes being sold at less than their original list price a couple of years ago. If you are considering purchasing one of the short sales, read Buying a short sale.

Jeff I know that I have said it before but I will say it again, I love that style and look. Which we had it over here.
Hi Jeff,
Wow, is there anything left in Carlsbad that you haven't written about? You do such a great job on everything covering beautiful Carlsbad. This looks like a nice complex and the prices beginning at $395,000 (today) look pretty attractive.
Well done!
I know it is a favorite of yours, George. Glad you enjoy these things. I think you will talk yourself into a hme here some day.
Jeff
Thanks, Lynda. Oh, I have lots more to wrote about. :)
