There is a new kid on the block (East Avenue, anyway): Longs Drug Store.
Located on the corner of East Avenue and Marigold, it will be a convenient stop for the Chico neighborhoods that line either side of East. The new store features a drive through pick up window, beer and wine, and a selection of grocery items. Of course shoppers will still find the pharmaceutical items and general merchandise associated with Longs Drug.
The opening of the new store was a bittersweet event for longtime local residents. The opening brought about the closing of Terrace Pharmacy, which began serving customers in 1957. Terrace also collected PG&E payments and served as a U.S. Postal Substation over the years. Fortunately, many of Terrace's employees can be found at the new Longs Drug, and customers can still enjoy the tradition of home delivery service offered by Terrace.
