Walking in the UC Davis Arboretum refreshed my outlook...

Today I decided to be a better me by taking care of myself. I took the morning off and walked for an hour and fifteen minutes in the UC Davis Arboretum. I went to graduate school at UC Davis and I always love the feeling I get when I'm on campus, but I forgot about this beautiful, refreshing resource in my back yard. While at graduate school at the turn of the century (that was fun to say) I was so busy hustling between classes, that I didn't take the time to enjoy the Arboretum. Now I make it a point to go by myself or with a walking/talking buddy. Visit the Arboretum website here: www.arboretum.ucdavis.edu

The arboretum is a delightful, nature walk, with planned gardens that feature many different habitats. I saw ducks, turtles and many bird species, as well as many other walkers enjoying this scenic hike. It is not a super intense walk, but there are differing grades throughout, with benches to sit and enjoy the view. Here's a tip: park at the Border's Books parking lot near the back, hop on the trail (made mostly out of asphalt) and take the loop. You can shorten the loop and take a shorter walk, if you feel like it. When you're done, grab a book at Borders or get a great burger at Hamburger Habit or do some shopping at the Gap.

Come see this lovely part of Davis, California and you'll see why people are crazy about living in Davis. The whole town feels like a throwback to a smaller, quieter, simpler America. I highly recommend taking a walk in the UC Davis Arboretum. You can call me with your questions about anything Davis, I'm happy to help, free of charge!
