Several decades ago Eagle Rock was covered in the fields of the Gates Strawberry Ranch. The Los Angeles streetcar system came into this neighborhood in 1906 from downtown up what is now Eagle Rock Blvd. to the end at Townsend and Colorado. A trolley also existed coming from Glendale and was known as the ‘galloping goose’ because of its rough ride.
