NAR Should Know - Real Estate is Local
Granted the last 5 years have been tough on the real estate market but NAR Should Know - Real Estate is Local. I have been preaching that "Real Estate is Local" from the get go as I hear stories from my clients about something they heard on the news or read on the internet and it really doesn't pertain to our local market. I have blamed the media but NAR (the National Association of Realtors) should know better. NAR should know real estate is local yet I saw an article just today about how much the median home price has dropped between December and January.
"The National Association of Realtors reported that the median home price in January fell 2% from December to $154,700. That's the lowest price reading since November 2001, before the run-up in home prices that became known as the housing bubble."
My question to NAR is where are you talking about because in El Dorado Hills, as you can see by the latest Trendgraphix, our median price is still well above that of 10 years ago and have in fact not dropped in December!
As with the weather, if we have plans to go to the beach tomorrow in Malibu are we worried about a storm across the country in New York? So is it with the real estate market. What you need to be concerned with is what the market is like where you live or plan to purchase.
NAR - You should know better - Real Estate is Local so are you really helping by throwing out broad statistics like that?!
