The late
Don Callender's creation, Jackalope Ranch in Indio will finally open in January under the renowned care of the Kaiser Restaurant Group headquartered in Palm Desert. Kaiser Restaurant Group currently runs the popular Kaiser Grille, The Chop House and Top of the Chop in Palm Springs and the Hog's Breath in La Quinta, among others. Don Callender's family has negotiated a lease on the property with the Kaiser Restaurant Group to enable this spectacular and architecturally stunning restaurant to open this month. Hundreds of applicants have applied for jobs at the new restaurant which will feature southwestern cuisine, barbeque and steaks. We look forward to its opening and success!

Jackalope Ranch opened on January 8, 2009 and will be serving dinner at half-capacity until the normal startup kinks are worked out. Will be opening for lunch in February. Now booking special events and private parties -- call catering director Eric Morcus at 760.7779.8946.
This property is absolutely beautiful. But it is going to be completely ruined by the Kaiser Group running it. There have been so many problems with cold food, aweful service, one hour wait times for food and the negative views of bringing children to this beautiful restarant that I find it hard to believe it will survive more than a year. The employess are all walking on eggshells like they will get fired any minute. They've lost 2 of their best managers and haven't even been open 2 weeks. The staff is constantly yelled at scolded and cussed at by the owner Lee Morcus. Must be a great follow in his old man's footsteps. I know all this because like many before me, I used to work there!
Wow, the last blog seem very hurtful....Hmmm, they used to work there... With the slow economy and a very busy restaurant, I wonder why this person chose to leave, or was it chosen for them? I wish J Fuentes all the good things in the world-just don't spread negativity-it makes you look bad!
I agree this property is beautiful and the whole event is a happening for the customer. The kinks will get worked out,,, it takes time. I thought the same thing about Babe's when it first opened but just checked them out in past week, two times, and they have it together now.
