As American as Apple Pie in Julian, California

On Sunday my family and I took a drive up the mountains to visit Julian, California. Julian is an old fashioned mining town in the east county of San Diego and known for the finest apples in Southern California.

Our main purpose for the trip was to start our "Fall Season" with a piece of Julian apple pie. Thousands of people visit Julian the months of September through November for this taste treat. We patiently stood in line at the Julian Pie Company for our pieces of Dutch apple pie slightly warmed with ice cream and topped with caramel sauce, a slice of apple pie with cinnamon ice cream and the traditional apple pie with cheddar cheese melted on top. Definitely worth the drive and the wait and we planned another trip up to Julian before the season is over. Hope to see you there!
