This is Sunny Jim's cave, named by Frank Baum, the author of The Wizard of Oz, way back in the late 1920s. Baum lived in Coronado and La Jolla for many years, and there is a Wizard of Oz museum in Coronado.
The steps and walls are very wet, so if you go, wear some good shoes and be sure to hold the handrails. Also watch your head because headroom is limited in some areas.
Once you finish touring Sunny Jim's cave, walk over to La Jolla Cove where you can see a rookery of harbor seals. On your way, be sure to stop here and there and see all the other wildlife between the cave and the Cove.
It's also one of the best places in San Diego County to see and watch lots of pelicans:
You might even see some harbor seals that have broken away from the rookery. The pelicans and seagulls don't seem to mind:
On light pole #9, you can see an osprey. This is his light pole. I'm sure some day he will leave, but it seems like he has been perched there forever:
I'm not sure what this wildlife is:
