Founded in 1959 and dedicated the next year by President Eisenhower, La Quinta Country Club has a rich past and compelling present. Originally owned by nearby La Quinta Resort—whose own storied past dates back to 1926—it was purchased by club members in 1977 to become an equity membership club.
The course—built by Larry Hughes—is continually rated one of the desert's best, and offers a traditional layout to test all skill levels. It's one of the four courses played during the annual Bob Hope Classic and one of the professional golfers' favorites.
The new Santa Barbara-styled clubhouse opened in Fall 2009 and offers dining, Pavilion ballroom, mens' and womens' card rooms, and state-of-the-art fitness facilities, including yoga and Pilates classes.
There are 515 homes on and off the golf course, ranging from homes in Club La Quinta, Golf Estates, Lago La Quinta, Fairways, Villas of La Quinta, and Montero Estates. Condos include The Villas of La Quinta and Country Club Estates Condos. Architectural styles encompass Spanish Colonial, contemporary and even Mid-century Modern.
