Homes are selling in Lake Arrowhead! What recession?

Of course, the economy has had a tough time. Homeowners are losing their homes and jobs and the news media seem to only report on the negative bringing more fear into the economy. I heard today, "What goes up, must come down" and Lake Arrowhead home prices have done that. The Lake Arrowhead real estate market was at the "peak" in 2006 after prices sky-rocketed up. Many homeowners bought during that time and my advice to them is ~hold on~ if you can. Now in early 2009, Lake Arrowhead and the surrounding community prices are very low and "back to normal." I believe nowis a huge buying opportunity in the San Bernardino Mountains. We were not as affected as the rest of Southern California because we are a "year round resort." Buyers love being able to drive to beautiful destination only about an hour from most of Southern California and be able to experience peace and family time after working and living full time in the city. I've been here in Paradise for 30 years and wouldn't leave for anything. I grew up here and now my kids get to experience the same mountain fun my husband and I had when we were young. There are so many things to do up here but my favorite is to sit on my big, beautiful deck of our log home and look at the lake and mountain views. I love to BBQ every night and look forward to the smells that Spring and Summer bring. Right now, I'm writing my blog looking at the lake with a few feet of snow on the ground.. Any season is gorgeous in Arrowhead and we actually do have 4 Seasons!

We had a walk in client this morning that decided to drive up from the valley and play in the snow. They've been in Arrowhead a few times and decided to talk to a Realtor at Remax Lake Arrowhead to see if there was anything in their price range .They had been toying with the idea of a 2nd home since it was only 63 miles from their primary home in the city. They were so excited that they could purchase a brand newhouse near the lake for about $360K. They're going home to get pre-qualified and coming back to choose their home over the next few weeks. They can't wait to close escrow quickly and be in their "cabin" by Spring. They already have friends and family get togethers and parties in mind . Their teenage kids are so excited and planning to bring all their friends up! We get calls and questions like that all the time! Ask your financial advisor because you may be able to write off the interest on your second home!
