This weekend I went down the hill to a spiritual, holistic, what some people call "woo woo" festival. It was interesting. I was there raising funds for a no kill animal shelter and also trying to recruit volunteers. I had created photos of needy dogs and cats available for adoption. ----One rescue that happened recently was very moving. Photos showed before and after photos. These two dogs had just been dumped in someones back yard. In really terrible condition. Our organization worked on having their medical needs and restored peace to them. They sure look and act wonderful now. ------I don't know if it was the patrons of this event were more caring, giving or feeling but my donation jar was overflowing. I have done events like this often and never had this response. It was really something. It could of been the recent rescue photos that touched them. Or could it have been the other things they did at the event. Like maybe listening to people talk about getting healthy, thinking differently, exploring other ways of living and thinking, some of the spiritual and some of the "woo woo" stuff like tarot, psychics and other exploration. I am using "woo woo" very lovingly like the lady that organized this event. I do not think there is anything wrong with thinking outside the box. Most of the time I rarely start inside the box. I enjoyed the people who stopped by, our conversations , the people who had other types of booths and services. It was a pleasant way to spend a Sunday afternoon down the hill. And boy did I raise lots of money for a great cause.
