The Loomis Eggplant Festival was a blast!

If you read my recent post inviting you to the Eggplant Festival in Loomis California, I hope you were able to attend.  Jon and I were there on Saturday and we had a wonderful time.  If you didn't make it, I hope you will come next year!

First of all, we started off with a yummy brunch at the High Hand Nursery Conservatory, and couldn't resist spending a little time wandering through the nursery, and the other businesses connected High Hand Nursery in Loomis CAto it (more about all that in another post to come).

Then we moved our car up Taylor a few blocks and parked closer to the center of the festival.  It was an absolutely gorgeous day, with perfect weather, and there were thousands of people already there, having a wonderful time.  There were cooking demonstrations, booths of every kind, entertainment, games, food concession stands, and lots of laughter.

I met another real estate agent and we talked for a bit.  He has been having a tough time in real estate, but since he is also a painting contractor, he is doing more of that lately.  What a great combination of talents:  when folks are buying he can help them with that, and when they are staying put and fixing up their current homes, he can help with that.

We watched the Eggonapolis 500, in which kids had put wheels on real or homemade eggplants and raced them like slot cars.  I tried to take some photos, but those little cars moved fast!  We watched some youngsters from the Philippines doing polynesian style dancing, saw some guys playing jazz, stuffed ourselves, and basically "did" the festival.

As we headed back to the car, we were stopped at the doorway of Nelthorpe & Son Appliance Center by a man who handed us plates with a small piece of eggplant parmesan.  Since this is something I love, we took a detour into that store and wound up discussing ovens (we need a new double oven).  They were cooking up this great food in the store and offering some to anyone walking by.  Yum!

Here are a few photos I took at the Eggplant Festival.  Hope to see you there next year!
