So You've Decided to Move to Los Angeles - Now What?
10+ Million people in the county, 4+ million people in the city proper. 88 incorporated cities within Los Angeles County. 80+ Unincorporated areas and communities. Move to Los Angeles - simple? Not really.
People who have never been to Los Angeles, who have never lived here, have no idea the scope of this place. When I lived in Columbus, OH (which I totally loved), I could get from the tippy top north to the very south of the city area in about 30 minutes. Here, it can take me 30 minutes to get to the correct freeway (when there is no traffic). What is a newcomer supposed to do?
First, figure out where you HAVE to be (your job, your key community, your family, whatever is most important). Next, figure out what you WANT to have: urban living, suburban oasis, best schools in the country (yes, we have some of those). Finally, figure out what you would LIKE to have (walk to beach, high-end shopping). Then - find the person who can find it for you.
A lot has been said about how Real Estate is hyper-local. What that means in a city like Columbus and what that means in a city like Los Angeles differs completely!! When we bought a house in Columbus, the same real estate agent was able to show us three completely different areas and have a great amount of knowledge of each area (thanks Diane!). Now that I work in real estate in Los Angeles, the area that I know, an area about the size of the County containing Columbus, is a SMALL FRACTION of the total area of Los Angeles. So in order to move to Los Angeles, you need me to help you figure out what you need to know.
So, perhaps more important than what I know is what I don't know. I don't know the Inland Empire. I don't know parts of Orange County. Pasadena? Barely a clue. BUT - I know people. I know people who know people. I know people who know people who know Pasadena. And, I'm committed to making sure my clients get their needs, wants, and like to haves met, above all else.
I know the South Bay. From the beautiful hills of Palos Verdes to the gorgeous beach districts of Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, and Manhattan Beach, I know them. Torrance, San Pedro, Wilmington, Lomita, County Gateway, Long Beach, Carson, I know them. Real Estate agents from across the LA basin? Yep - I know them too.
Museums? Theaters? Beaches? Amusement Parks? Uh huh - I know them. School districts? Definitely. Cost of living? You better believe it. How long it takes to get from one part of the basin to another part? Absolutely (gotta know that).
Want to know what I know? Come visit me on my site. I put a lot of what I know up there.
So - I have just one question left for you - what do you want to know?
