Shag carpeting that is - sorry if I disappointed you.

Would you like some "Shag" with your house?

This Interior Design project is in conjunction with a previous blog, From Pepto Pink to Classic Cool. This is the main living room of the Westwood, CA 1950's Bungalow complete with original, 3″ (although very matted down) shag carpeting. The owners wouldn't even consider bringing their young toddler into the house until this was gone for fear of what "was living" in the carpeting. But what these first time home buyers COULD see was the home's potential. GREAT coffered ceilings, huge windows, large living space.

What they couldn't see, and what the Platinum Home Staging Team found, was that the shag carpeting was covering original wood floors! These new Home Owners were ready to drop $15,000 on new flooring when they bought the house, but we knew what to look for. Sure enough, the entire house had the original wood floors and they were in PERFECT condition: no stains, no water marks, no wood rot, no glue, nails or staples. Saving these first time Home Buyers THOUSANDS of dollars, meant they could remodel the original 1950's kitchen. Something that the wife was very excited about. Check back soon for that!
