If you have seen John Stossels program on 20/20, I wish he would include this.
I am so tired of hearing all the hearts & flowers victim storys. Didn't anyone ever hear the saying about "Saving for a rainy day!" I guess I am annoyed because I have always done this. But I haven't heard any mention of the responsible citizens who are not expecting a government hand out but are expected to share the burden for the irresponsible. My mortgage came first, not my big screen TV. I not only paid off my mortgage but paid it off early with extra payments. Although I could afford the Mercedes, I choose the Honda. Instead of buying the Gucci purse, I opted for something stylish but affordable. And I knew I couldn't have it all. I paid off my credit cards each month because I did not run them up to their limit. And I am proud to say I taught my son the same. After selling his business, he paid off his $100K+ IRS bill. Every damn dime. (excuse my French) Even though he did not have the cash, He didn't file bankruptcy, or look for a bailout. So my reward for retirement, is higher taxes, & shrinking assets to take care of the stupid like Octo Mom. I believe Welfare is for the needy, not the greedy. And the word Responsibility should be a required course in school. And why is Madoff sitting comfortably in his home?
