What Is your Therapy? We All Need Some!!!!

baby As Life Becomes More Instantaneous With Constant communication in the form of e-mail, text messaging, voice mail and the old fashion telephone call all of our lives have become more connected and at times we as human beings do not give one another the same courtesy we expect for ourselves and that is the fact that all of us need some time off no matter the line of work we are involved in and with all of the technology at our disposal the technology has caused our lives to become more complicated.

Many People Get In the Habit Of Working Hard To provide for their families, myself included, to the point of losing the reason behind the hard work and it becomes detrimental not only to ourselves but the family as well and when that happens everyone suffers all the way from our children and spouses to our clients and those we work with. I have done this and some of my clients do it as well and at those times we all must STOP and smell the Roses before we fall into a heaping pile of hard working Pooh.

Therapy Comes In Many Forms All The Way From Fishing, sports, camping, I know people who actually ride Horses, but the point is all of us in this day and age need an outlet that helps us to relax and recover and this is the best form of Therapy possible and we don't need to pay a psychologist to tell us we need to relax and find what works we only need to find what works for us as individuals.

As For Myself I have Found Myself Working Too Much the last two years so today I fired Up My Harley and went on a ride and lo and behold life became bearable again and tomorrow I'll be ready to face the challenges head on as riding is My Therapy and I feel rejuvenated but it brought up the question about others and that is: What Is Your Therapy?

That is a sharp looking bike!  Sounds like fun.  As for what I do for therapy, nothing is working at the moment.

( 09/14/08 06:40PM ) — Conrad Unnerstall, Associate Broker

Cameron,

My wife, Julie Chapman, has already warned that you have more toys than me.....great bike.....mmmmmmm....maybe I need one.......

( 09/14/08 07:26PM ) — Amanda Hall * Texas Real Estate Broker *

I love to pack up the toys and head to the lake for a weekend of camping.  To me, nothing is more relaxing than being 15 minutes away from the home office but feeling like I've gotten away from it all.  It's weird, I know, but it works for me.

( 09/14/08 07:29PM ) — JL Boney, III

For me winding down takes many forms. For the most part when I get burnt out I just go find something that I would have done when I was a child. I go to the zoo, then I go play putt putt, and then some arcade games.

Therapy is probably just playing in the rain in a lot of cases, including mine.  Be careful on the fancy bike.

Nice looking bike Cameron...but give me a fishing pole on shore or in a boat all by myself, and I am happy

Give me some fish and I will have a good meal, let me go fishing, and I may be gone for days!!!

( 09/15/08 08:23AM ) — Melody Botting Real Estate Network

Where have I been?  When did Julie's husband join us?  Cool!

( 09/15/08 08:29AM ) — Jon Wnoroski, Summit County Realtor

Great looking bike; however I prefer my "rides" to have four wheels... lol  I need a little more security.  My diversion tends to be on the golf course.... and my "drives" there aren't very straight... but I do enjoy searching for for my next lie.  We all need time off task!

I love going to my yoga class.  It is a great "time out" for me.  It rebalances me both physically and emotionally.  Everytime I finish a class, I feel like a new person.

What a great looking bike and I know the feeling you get from riding one - but I've only been a passenger not the operator.  For me my therapy comes from exercising - I feel so much better and I can tackle anything that comes my way after a little exercise.  I also consider "me" time and that little escape from work and life is something that makes a world of difference to me.  Hope you get out often. ~Anne Marie

( 09/15/08 10:14AM ) — Russell Lewis, Broker,CLHMS,GRI

Nice looking ride, remember your helmet. My therapy is running,...enjoy the next time out!

I have a 1974 Triumph TR6 that I've tweaked on in the past as "therapy" - feels great to do something so physical after all the mental stimulation we get in our line of work.  May have to get a bike someday though - riding certainly is fun!

Yes, very sharp bike. Cameron, do you have any statistics as how many bike motorist were killed due to accident? I need that number to convice my wife to buy a bike.

( 09/15/08 11:12AM ) — Judith Reppert

I watch my chickens, or take a walk thru our woods.  It's almost impossible to get angry or impatient while watching chickens be themselves.

Really nice bike (I favor Hondas, myself)!

Cameron, your bike reminds me of that Born to be wild song. For me it's exercise and mini-vacations.

( 09/15/08 11:33AM ) — Myrtle Beach Real Estate by Mirela Monte

Good post!  Very relevant.

Yoga.  Jogging.  Kickboxing.  Rollerblading.  Mountain Biking.  Salsa dancing.  Weight lifting.  I cultivate "endorphin flow" any way I can...

( 09/15/08 11:36AM ) — Kathleen Daniels

My therapy is to be in nature - no toys - just one with nature - sitting on a private beach with only the powerful ocean and birds or at a lake with other wildlife. That really calms my mind and rejuvenates my soul.

HI CAMERON!

My therapy is VACATION!!  I'm talking about an island or cruise...I love cruises.  Now, I don't get them as often as I'd like, but when I do, watch out!!

Thanks for some good thoughts!

Cameron- Very nice bike....so much chrome. I am sure everyone has to put their sunglasses on just to see you! My ultimate therapy is travel...but like Yvette stated you can't just do that without planning and money. Lately I have been enjoying good books. Sitting down and reading can take you away places you can't afford to go yourself weekly!

Lawyers, Guns and... by tread. I relax and get my therapy while waiting for those real estate agents that come on to my property without the appointment I requested in the showing instructions of my listing.

You got a problem with that?

Now your just showing off. But great therapy I bet.My is a long cruise with my three wonderful daughters and their lovely mom. No phones, bill has been paid, all the food I care to eat, and just bring me one more of them tal drinks with umberella in it oh what the heck make it two. You know what it has been almost two years since I went on a cruise I think I am booking today. See ya.

Cameron,

You asked, so here it is: 1990, great on gas, take the top off and enjoy the ride!

Congrats on the GS!

( 09/15/08 01:28PM ) — Greg Nino Houston Texas

My therapy comes in the form of Golf, or having a drink with my buddies.

Kick ass bike by the way!

( 09/15/08 01:44PM ) — Christine Wade

Great post, and great bike, great photos from commenters as well!  My parents have two harleys on is the 100 yr. edition Heritage and I can't remember what the other is.  To disconnect, we pack everything up and head to the mountains or the desert with our Toyhauler (RV) and our Rhino (offroad vehicle) and do some family rides and campfires under the stars...does wonders to recharge those batteries!

Cameron - This is a public post, do you really want to know;-)

Seriously, writing tends to be one form of therapy for me and working out usually does the trick as well.  I'll keep the other things in the bag... for now.

( 09/15/08 02:32PM ) — Dawn Wiser

Golfing is my outlet.  The problem is winter - outlet heck!  I need to find something for winter?

Cameron - WHoo Hoo - I FINALLY get to see your Harley.  Nice Ride!!  Nothing like the wind hitting your face and you have such great weather.  I bet you can ride year round!

Here's my therapy...Simba picture

( 09/15/08 02:50PM ) — Anna Davis Little

PLEASE don't text and ride!!

Nice bike Cameron - It certainly caught my attention.  I read.  Yea, it's dull to SOME but it's entertaining to me & makes it completely possible to forget all else while you are doing it.  I also enjoy hanging on the back porch w/some friends, the adult beverage of our choice & talking about whatever.  KM

MEL, Try harder and find something. All of us need an outlet.

CONRAD, I highly encourage YOU to get a Harley. Want me to give Julie a call and explain how good she will feel if YOU have a new scoot?

AMANDA, I know how you feel and you don't even have to go all that far all you need to do is Go.

JL, I have not heard the term Putt Putt in years and I thought only us Oldtimers knew the term.

BARBARA, Playing in the rain can be very relaxing.

WILLIAM, Since I already know that you love to fish may I suggest you book a weeks stay at the hotel CLIFTON in Alaska. Jesse keeps the fridge well stocked.

MEL, I didn't know he joined either. Guess we need to pay more attention. Nah.

JON, I can't relax playing golf but I'm pretty good at the 19th hole.

JOAN, I'm glad you have something that works for you. Keep at it.

ANN MARIE, Excersise and personal time bring a great balance to life.

RUSSELL, Keep running and thanks for the safty tip but I do ride without my helmet everytime I get the chance.

( 09/15/08 03:32PM ) — Lori Isaacson

My therapy is travel. Sometimes I just travel on the Internet. I prefer a cruise ship. There is nothing like standing on the top deck where you can see nothing but the ocean and blue sky.Try it you might like it.........

CAROL, Go rent a Harley and see how you like it. Nothing beats getting into the wind.

HUITING, As a matter of fact I do. Fewer people get killed on bikes than in cars. How's that for a statistic. Keep talking to her and buy her something Really expensive. LOL

JUDITH, Watching chickens is a new one for me but if it works keep it up. Now about Hondas, I thought Honda made lawnmowers and mowing the lawn is not very relaxing.

GARY, I have been known to go against the norm because I could never figure out what normal was. Mini vacations are a must. A friend of mine who did extremely well in R.E. took a mini vacation every six weeks.

( 09/15/08 03:42PM ) — Sandy Schweiger

I know I'm supposed to say something outdoors like and talk about babbling brooks and such but I was raised buys a TV so it truly brings me to a happy place.  Sooooo my therapy is tuning out with a good movie marathon or a box of sitcoms on CD.  Make me laugh or cry and suddenly I can feel life again.

MIRELA, Wow!!!! Made me tired just reading all the things You do to relax.

KATHLEEN, Nature is the BEST and that is part of the reason I ride as I can experience all that is around me unlike being in a car looking at it.

YVETTE, I went on one cruise and had a blast.

LORI, Reading is one of the most relaxing things a person can do and I love to read but I don't do it enough.

DON, Thats too damn funny and no I don't have a problem with it. So, How many notches in your belt so far?

( 09/15/08 03:55PM ) — Jane Page Thompson

Mark Thompson

My husband and my dogs are my therapy and I am my therapist's therapist and it all work out in the wash.  Great post!

( 09/15/08 04:00PM ) —

Cameron....I read too many books a week to consider it therapy..When I start a really good mystery I must finish it...I guess that is an addition not therapy for me. I have spent many sleepless nights trying to finish a book.....

CHARLES, Nothing wrong with a collection of those little umbrellas.

RICHARD, Thanks. Nothing wrong with going topless on a nice day.

GREG, Hanging out with the Bud's and telling lies is a great way to relax but I wish I was a little better at golf.

CHRISTINE, Now that is what I'm talking about. Get AWAY from all of it!!!!

JASON, Glad writing works for you and it's something you do very well I might add. Think I'll keep a few things in the bag as well except this one........ Forget it.

DAWN, Another golfer but you must find Something for those long winter months.

APRIL, As you know this is Baby and she hails from your hometown and we do get to ride ALL year round. Except for the Starbucks bunch. OOOPs!!!! I'll wager a bet that your dog is Spoiled.

ANNA, What"s texting? LOL

KRISTIN, Reading is not boring to me and hanging out on the back porch is a great Southern pastime that I miss. We hang out on the patio in California and you can't shoot anything that runs through the yard.

LORI, Went on one cruise and loved it. Might be time to do it again.

( 09/15/08 04:14PM ) — Anna Matsunaga

I read, I run/walk @ 5 am in the morning, I pray, I garden, I play with my kids and or my husband, I write/blog.  I take a hot hot bath by myself.  I go on vacation with the kids and husband to the beach, I have a glass of wine and watch a movie, I drink herbal tea with a good book, I talk with friends.  Wow, did not realize I find time for all of that, but I do, no wonder I get up @ 5am and no wonder I am so well adjusted! ;)

SANDY, When it's raining on a Sunday afternoon I break out the Indiana Jones collection and turn off the phone.

JANE, Thanks. So who is the best trained of the three?  LOL

ANNA, Sounds like you have it together and I like the well adjusted statement as we all need to do the things that bring us to that point in life.

Cameron........

Not enough.

Don

I thought that was you I saw the other day! ;)

Very nice Harley!

Me...my therapy is visiting any one of the wineries in the beautiful Temecula Wine Country.  I bet that would make for a great ride..huh? :)

DON, Shoot straighter.

JANICE, If that guy was speeding it probably was wasn't me. The Wine Country is beautiful and a great place to relax for a day.

( 09/15/08 06:09PM ) — Amanda Hall * Texas Real Estate Broker *

That's it.  I wanna know what's in the bag.

AMANDA, Sorry. No Comment.

Cameron, you are in my neck of the woods.  Not too many Temecula, Murrieta agents on AR or at least I have not run into monay.  Nice to see your blog!!!!  And I visited your other blogs and they look interesting.   As for my therapy it changes but today I went to Starbucks all by myself!!!

BROKER, I've been in the Valley since 1988 when Murrieta didn't even have a signal lite in town and we used to ride our dirt bikes all over the place and never got a ticket. I sold my jet skie's a few years ago after amassing 7 tickets on the lake in Lake Elsinore in one summer. Glad you like the Valley. Got Buyers?

Hi Cameron!  This is a great post.  My therapies are reading, laughing through an exercise class with friends and now, my dog.  He's a great joy and pleasure to watch and I can feel myself relaxing just looking at his happy little face.

SUSAN, Don't you just love Critters. One of ours is named Oscar and he's a Chihuahua on steriods, about 19 pounds of muscle, who loves the Harley. Little Stud boy.

( 09/15/08 09:45PM ) —

I'll give you a glue. Surfs Up!

Cameron.. looks like this could be a great way of therapy...... Just get out and ride.... Nice bike

followed closely by...

repeat as necessary :)

Nothing in the world is better therapy than a fragrant, hot bubble bath.  Throw in a little soft music and candlelight and the rest of the world just melts into oblivion.  When my ship comes in, I'm gonna get an aromatherapy, heated, champagne bubble jetted tub.  I just may NEVER get out!

Nice bike! I'm taking up golf, but that is frustrating! Work really does not stress me out that much.

My therapy of choice (and true happy place!) is Maui with my husband.  It is our "no cell phone" zone not to mention gorgeous, relaxing, and overflowing with mai tais :~)  My daily therapy comes in the form of a 5 1/2 lb fuzzy dog that loves me no matter what I do.

My therapy is going to the mall and shopping!  Relaxes me everytime and gets my mind off the office!

( 09/16/08 11:44AM ) — Chris Ann Cleland, GRI

Cameron:  I am so guilty of letting my job run into my personal life....really...run OVER my personal life.  When I actually do take time to ENJOY something non-work related I wonder why I don't do it more often.

My husband loves your bike!!!  This is what he wants to relax!!  I spend time with my family and friends and read.  I love to get lost in a book.  great post.  have fun!

ROLAND, Thanks Nothing like going for a looooong putt.

JESSE, If anyone Knows how to Realx it's you, repeat as necessary LMAO.

JANNA, You drink the Champagne, Right?

WAYNE, Golf is a tough sport. Glad work doesn't get to you.

TERRI, Mai Tais equal a little umbrella collection.

NORMA, My wife does the same thing, something about spending money.

CHRIS ANN, Take MORE time off!!!!

KATHY, I agree with your husband and since he's such a great guy maybe this weekend you will help him get the perfect Harley.

Cameron - I am so happy you got a featured post for this!!  Your Harley looks like it is just calling you to have some fun....

Yes, my Simba is very spoiled.  That's what he's around for, right?  He makes me happy and I make him happy.  There is nothing like the greeting I get daily when I return from work or wherever.  You'd think I'd been gone for ages - and he is always, always happy to see me.  Can't help but brighten my day!

( 09/16/08 04:28PM ) —

Cameron,

Great question. My therapy is my 'children', Brandy, Cricket and Caleb. Like April said, they are always happy to see me and greet me with a friendly wag. It helps put things in perspective!

APRIL, The Harley always calls when Papa needs a break and I KNEW SIMBA was spoiled. Good.

No NAME, Critters are the best.

( 09/16/08 09:39PM ) —

I drink heavily.  JUST KIDDING!!

I ride my horses..... or play with my dog, or pet my kitty or talk to my bird.

Jennifer Lamm

JENNIFER, I have alot of friends who have horses and they tell me they love riding.

Cameron, I do have buyers!!!  Are you an easy to work with REO agent?  I am showing tomorrow in temecula, pool homes below $250.00, but if you have any decent ones in Murrieta let me know.  Thanks!   PS I chaged my profile because people were calling me broker because I did not have it set up correctly.  But Liz Moralas set me straigt.....I am fairly new to AR

JANE, Would you prefer Broker Jane? LOL

You bet I'm easy to work with as long as I'm told the truth and if a problem arises I will work through it unless I hear, Oh everthing is Fine, don't sweat it etc.

Sorry I don't have Any pool homes under $312,900. Wish I did.

Hey Cameron - my therapy is doing physical labor, like moving railroad ties, or digging a hole, or bending metal, or if the weather's wierd, I jam with some tunes.  Works like a charm everytime.

( 09/18/08 07:31AM ) — Michael Cole

Great post, Cameron. And nice bike! I have one too, but my real escape comes from surfing. It's very therapeutic, and pretty good exercise too.

: )

( 09/18/08 01:22PM ) — Tammy Laakso

I have to say, this is the best blog I have read yet!

Just yeaterday I was having those same thoughts. WORK! WORK! and no play. It makes for a very cranky day!

ALYCE, Sounds like you enjoy the outdoors. Physical labor gets the body's juices flowing.

MICHAEL, I use too do a lot of Boggie Boarding but never learned to surf and their is something about the power of the ocean that cannot be explained but has to be experienced.

TAMMY, Thanks for the compliment. Now, take a day off for YOU.

Cameron--Nice pic!  I practice tai chi every morning with a little pilates or yoga thrown in the mix.  When I am feeling extremely frustrated, and need serious therapy after a trying day, I go straight for kickboxing because sometimes you just need to release it the good old fashion way.

ROBIN, Every once and a while you just have to hit ,or kick, something. Good for you.
