Local Republican Groups Endorse Sheila Grattan & Lee Weigel for 2007 Palm Springs City Council Elections

There are 8 candidates running for the 2 open city council seats, and on November 6th, the citizens of Palm Springs will have to vote for their new leaders.

Last night at the Rock Garden Cafe, the Lincoln Club of Palm Springs & the Log Cabin Republicans unanimously gave their endorsements to City Council candidates Sheila Grattan & Lee Wiegel.

Sheila Gratten is 30-year full-time resident of Palm Springs, who believes in a balanced City Council. She is the founder of Save Our City, a member of the Palm Springs Historic Site Preservation Board, former chairman of the Homeless Taskforce, and a member of the City Blue Ribbon Budget Task Force.  Lee Weigel has lived in Palm Springs since 1951, and has seen many changes. His goal is to bring harmony and common sense decision-making to City Hall. Lee Weigel was the the Palm Springs Police Chief until 2002, who instituted the Police Advisory Committe, which led to the implementation of community policing in the city. Lee Weigel has been involved in many local charities, which include the Executive Board of the Palm Springs International Film Festival, Friends of the Palm Springs Animal Shelter, and the Board of the Chamber of Commerce.
