A Bird in the Hand is Better Than Two in the Bush?

After 20 years in this industry...stranger things have happened...but, a few weeks ago, I had something interesting happen to me that made me think a minute. Here goes:

My listing was getting lots of activity and the Sellers and I had already received an offer the first week on the market. We were currently negotiating the offer when a friend of mine, who is a well-respected, honest, hard-working local Realtor called and said that his clients were going to be making an offer. YEAH!

There was the choice to continue negotiating and accept the current offer (which is what we did) or wait for his clients' offer to come in. It would have been the same...as witnessed from when it came in as a "backup offer".

What would you do?
