FAVORITE WALKING/ JOGGING TRAILS
Here is a great list of kid friendly and not so kid friendly hiking trails along the Beaches and Peninsula rated hihgly by the PV Mom's club.
For more of their great Guides for Parks, Beaches, Restuarants, Doctors and more just click on theier website. I have reviewed their reccommendations and I must agree, they are right on for their reviews...not to mention that they recommend my favorite peditirican, Dr. James Flores..So for all you newcomers to the peninsula, I know that you will find this site helpful.
I know I am going to recommend the site to all my new relocation clients. It is indepth and fantastic.
The Strand
Whether Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach or Manhattan Beach, the Strand is a favorite walking trail. Lots for the kids to look at - love watching for dolphins - and it is nice and flat for jogging. Great reminder for why we live in California. Close to lots of shops and food, drink and ice cream.
Trail South of Golden Cove
Can't beat the view. Peaceful and quiet. Hills are a challenge, but not too much.
2nd Street in Long Beach
Great place to get coffee with the strollers.
Trail at the end of Highridge
Gorgeous, sweeping views of canyon and ocean. Some places a bit raw and not recommended if carrying infants.
Trail at Ocean Trails
Currently under construction, but a lovely trail with gorgeous views of the golf course and ocean.
The cliffs along Lunada Bay.
South Coast Botanical Gardens. 16300 S. Crenshaw Blvd, RHE. Lots of paths, beautiful plants, a kids' garden, and a large pond with ducks. 544-6815.
Landfill behind Rancho Vista Elementary. Good terrain, lots of plants and trees, views of San Pedro, PV and the rest of the city.
Montecillo neighborhood. Shade and short hills.
