An extra "touch" for your database - Property Taxes Due April 10th

We are always trying to find new ways to help our clients stay in contact with their database. One of our strategies is to provide additional content that they can forward on as their own. Here is a letter we recently sent out to all of our clients.

Property Taxes Due April 10th

Spring is upon us. That means warmer, longer days, the urge for spring cleaning, flowers blooming and...property taxes. The second half of your yearly property tax is due this Friday April 10th. It must be received by 5:00pm, or at least postmarked with the date of April 10th, to not be considered delinquent. If you happen to get your payment in late, a penalty fee equaling 10% of your total tax due will be assessed as well as a $10 cost fee.

How to Pay your Tax Bill

There are several ways to pay your tax bill, including paying by mail, in person, online, or over the phone. Please go to http://lacountypropertytax.com/portal/contactus/paymentinfo.aspx#otherpayment for full information on the various ways to pay your bill.

Property tax bills of $50,000 and higher must be paid electronically. Pre-registration is required. Call (213)974-0996 for more information.

How to Find Out What You Owe

For property within Los Angeles County, go to - https://vcheck.ttc.lacounty.gov and provide your property's Assessor's Parcel Number (APN), which can be found on your deed, your title report and your tax bill. This number is also referred to as your Assessor's Identification Number. This website provides current year and delinquent secured tax information. Current year tax information is available between October 1 and June 30 only. Delinquent information is available all year except during July.

Supplemental Tax Bills

If you have recently become the new owner of a property, or have made changes to your property for which new construction took place, you may owe a Supplemental Tax. State law requires that the Assessor reappraise a property to determine the difference between the prior and newly assessed value. If the property is reassessed at a higher value, you will owe a tax amount. If reassessed at a lower value, you will be issued a refund.

Supplemental tax bills are mailed directly to the property owner and are your responsibility. In general, they are not paid out of your impound account. Please check with your lender.
