Leukemia is BAD! Help me find a cure

My husband Kerry Garnett is a part time coach for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's marathon program called Team in Training. This is in addition to his full time career. Because my motto has always been that I don't run unless I am being chased, my only participation at his marathon events has been limited to capturing each of Kerry's runners on videotape as they cross the finish line. These runners all raise funds for leukemia research in order to go on these exotic marathon trips, then they run 26.2 miles. It's very emotional to watch them all cross that finish line and I have seen and taped hundreds of these very kind people.

I have finally found a different way to "run" for the cause. I am a candidate for Man/Woman of the Year 2009. I am "running" a campaign to raise valuable fund raising dollars in memory of Lise Rasmussen-Wright, a TNT Honored Teammate, who lost her battle against blood cancers here in San Diego just a little less than one year ago. Lise was a dear friend of mine and Kerry's who fought her fight for seven years. All the very unusual and interesting jewelry that I wear, which is commented on no matter where in the world I go, was made my Lise. She was a brilliant, talented woman who died from a form of leukemia way too young.

Here's how you can help. Please click on the link below where you'll find my Man/Woman of the Year web site. Once you're there could you please make a minimum credit card donation of $5? Heck, it's the price of a fancy coffee at Starbucks, and yet the combined donations will make a really big difference for researchers working on new treatments and ultimately a cure. If you're able to donate more than $5 that would be wonderful too.

P.S. Leukemia and blood cancers keep showing up uninvited, even in a recession. It's hard to ask for funds this year, but it's also been a joy to get the positive feedback through donations. Each one has been a thrill!

Sincerely,
